Bird House
This was our 3rd year in a row staying here for our annual bird watching trip during the migration. We love it so much! The space is cozy and friendly, and that sauna is so appreciated after a long day hiking the trails behind the house. Communication with the host is great - they even reached out to see if we wanted to stay an additional night. Perfect!

Childhood memories as an adult
Gotta say, it really brought back such great memories of my time at the falls as a kid. This place we stayed in honesty was fantastic. I especially the view I would wake up to every morning of Lake Superior. Truly and awesome stay, and would do it again!

Yes, long weekends here are wonderful and for those looking to enjoy beach time on the lake, Iona Beach is just a minute up the road and is one of our favorite places to hang out with a picnic and pie from the Rustic Inn Cafe.

4 plex was close to the Falls and a beautiful drive along the lake. I would have preferred the upper unit as we could hear the people above us.

Hi Lee, We are very sorry your stay wasn't excellent. Unfortunately, we can't control the noise from guests upstairs and have tried to decrease noise by adding carpet. We have priced the lower suites with this in mind and would just like to give guests the expectation that the property is more like a 4-unit boutique hotel, rather than a private home. It truly is in a great location and is perfect for multiple families coming together with the communal fire pit and sauna house. We will continue to do what we can to make these suites more soundproof for all our guests. Thank you!

Perfect Location - Clean - Comfortable - Charming
This cabin was fantastic! The location can't be beat. Just minutes from Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. The access to the bike trail across the street was fabulous. It was a short 25 minute bike ride to Gooseberry Falls. The beds were comfortable with nice linens. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and enjoying a meal. The gas grill was a bonus. The living space was cozy and pleasant. The outdoor deck and fire pit were very nice. The bathroom was clean, with plush towels. It was perfect for our long weekend get away.

Great Stay for small family
I had read reviews about the noise and it wasn't bad the first few nights. The last night was a new group and it was much louder. They weren't considerate of being on the top floor with people below them. Other than that, the stay was great. It was clean and in a great location. It was a great size for a family of four. The shower is very small which was harder for small kids and the shower head didn't move. There wasn't any plastic bowls or silverware, so we had to make a trip to buy some, but it wasn't a big deal.

Overall nice, but loud and ant situation
Overall it was a nice place to stay. There was a few things that could be improved like unfinished ceiling in the bathroom. When we arrived we found a bunch of ants in the bathroom (they assured us this is the first time). We called and they sent someone to vacuum it up. Ants periodically were coming out, asked for a vacuum, so they sent a big person out to spray. Brought a vacuum out for us to use the next day. We were in the bottom unit, that night the people above us must have gone to the bathroom every 2 hours. It sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Honestly the loudest I have ever heard neighbors in comparison to hotels, timeshare, etc. The next evening was better as the neighbors did not get up as frequently. Kept us all awake the first night, except my littlest child. Again, nice during the day, as other noise does not allow you to hear your neighbors so clearly. Also, could only hear them walking-not talking, etc.

Family vacation
Merissa was a very communicative and helpful host. We very much enjoyed the location; it's close to great trails and shops in Two Harbors. There were a few things that could be better in the kitchen. My family likes to cook. A lot! And it was kind of dark, and not as well equipped as some vacation homes we've rented.

Gooseberry Suites
This is a nice property, quiet even though close to the road. It is clean and well managed, well supplied and tasteful. The only issues were the floors on the suite above were very noisy, especially with an active group up there, and Encampment was very warm with cool outdoor temps.

Cute and cozy
This was perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway with 5 other women. The property was clean and comfortable. The communal fire pit was used once and was lovely. We did not use the sauna. The only things that brought the rating down was that the bed sizes as communicated were not accurate. There was supposed to be one king sized bed in one room and 2 queens in the other. The “king sized” bed was smaller than my queen. Just a minor annoyance, but did make sleeping harder. You could also hear the neighbors, though it was only really noticeable in the bathroom. We had quiet neighbors though, so that helped. We were in one of the apartments on the bottom level. Overall it was a very nice stay.

Hiking, bird watching, and sauna
This was our second year staying at this property for the bird migration, and it is such a fantastic experience! The space is cozy yet has everything you need. The views from the picture window are beautiful, and the sauna is such a bonus. The entrance to the trails from the property keeps us coming back. We’ll be back again I’m sure.

Great location for hiking and skiing in Gooseberry State Park. Nice view overlooking Lake Superior; high enough above Hwy 61 that noise is minimal. Great sauna, fireplace, loaner snowshoes. Lower unit hears all movement in unit above. Probably too cozy for any parties more than 4, but great for us.

Weekend Getaway
We loved this place! The property was beautiful and the owner was super quick to respond to any questions or maintenance requests we had! Only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because the walls are paper thin (we stayed on first floor) and we could hear the people next to us and the people above us every movement or convo. In addition, no dogs are allowed on furniture or bed. Given how small the space is we found this a little odd but complied. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend due to the great location in a beautiful area!

Gooseberry falls cabin!
What a wonderful spot!! The home is better than pictured and clean. The beds are very comfortable - they seem new. Actually most things seem new in this cabin. We could hear our neighbors, but that wasn't a problem. We loved being this close to the gooseberry trails. We had fantastic weather and were able to really enjoy trails and the park. Amazing weekend. Thank you!

Winter Fun
Loved location to Gooseberry Falls. Took our e-bikes with fat tires and rode in the snow to the visitor center, was snowing, so beautiful. Ate a Rustic Inn, to die for! Loved the wood burning fireplace w supplied wood. Grateful for the 2 beds in the one room for our 3 kids. Very cute place. Could definitely hear the dog above us playing fetch with himself. Could not hear people or talking as some other reviews had mentioned. Recommendation? Have folks with dogs stay on main level? Just a thought. Glad we had the opportunity to stay here.

The updates are really nice, finishes are good. It's nice having the sauna as an option. Very relaxing getaway. If there are other renters you will bring able to hear their conversations, snoring, etc. Bring ear plugs.

The place was clean and neat. Close to trails. No tub, just a shower so if you don't want wet hair, bring a shower cap. If you can and don't mind some stairs ask for an upper unit. We could hear heavy footsteps from people in upper unit from our lower unit. It woke us up two nights in a row. Kind of scared our younger ones a bit. Has a nice table chairs on the deck which we enjoyed for lunch one day. Fire pit is fun when it's not too windy. Took trial behind the unit to Gooseberry Falls first day and the path along 61 on the way back. Could use a small casserole bowl for making macaroni and cheese or other hotdish, otherwise good assortment of kitchen utensils. Great location.

Overall very satisfied. Location was very convenient. The unit was very clean & well stocked in terms of linens, TP, paper towels, dishes, cookware. The furnishings & decor were comfortable & tasteful. We didn't use the fire pit but it looked very nice. Plenty of wood for fire pit & fireplace & propane refills tanks for the grill.

Cozy, clean and great location
Very nice, cozy place, it was clean and newly remodeled. We didn't end up using the stove/oven or the grill as we were gone most of the day sightseeing. Only one issue the sound between the upstairs and downstairs was not good. we could hear them walking around, moving stuff. It would have been okay during the day but were woke at 3:30 and 5:30 am from noise.

I liked the location of the property. It was great to visit the state parks and close to Two Harbors. The downside was there was no air conditioning and no ceiling fan or fan in the livingroom/kitchen. The deck was really nice but there was a neighbor who had a dog that invaded our side of the deck which made it difficult to have our dog outside.

The complex is in great condition, newly renovated. You are staying with 3 other family like an apartment complex. You can hear them some. We were gone most of the time but did notice them in the morning/evening times. It is advertised to sleep 6 but only had towels for 4. The oven did not work. Otherwise it was a great stay and would stay again.

This spot is all about location
This property was in an AMAZING location for seeing the North Shore, it had awesome trail access. We had a nice stay. Easy in & easy out. The biggest complaint would be we had upstairs neighbors one night. You could hear every move, the snoring, their conversations, rolling over in bed. The place itself was clean, but could use a deep clean. The shower was very small. Bathroom ceiling was still being remodeled. There was a lip that created a toe stubbing/tripping hazard between the bath & the beautiful hardwood of the living area. Kitchen was stocked with needed utensils, pans, etc. coffee maker. We were not able to find a way to regulate temperature outside of fans in the bedroom windows. This property is 100% about the location. I would stay again, however I’d be differently prepared with earplugs, a radio/speaker for the time there to be noise cancellation and some hazard tape or an extra rug.

Overall, the place and location worked for us. However, there where a few issues. First the fitted sheets didn't fit the mattress. I would recommend replacing with deep pocket variety. Every morning we woke up with the bottom sheet rolled up in a ball. Second, if the place is meant for 6, there should be enough chairs to seat everyone around the kitchen table. Third, we had a meatloaf that we brought but could not bake it as the oven did not work. Again, we made it work but I am not sure we would stay there again.

Wonderful Gooseberry Adventure!
We loved staying at this property. It was great to have the woods right outside our door. We stayed here with all our little kids and everyone had a good time exploring the trails or enjoying s’mores over the fire. It took a half hour to walk to Gooseberry Falls on the paved path along the highway, a little longer hiking through the forest trails. Or a quick drive to the parking lot in the state park just down the road! One thing we really appreciated about the host was his responsiveness to questions and concerns. We had the room next to the furnace for all four apartments, and it was significantly hotter than elsewhere on the property. We reached out to the host and several new-appearing box fans were on our doorstep the next morning. It was still toasty but we really appreciated him going the extra mile to help us be comfortable. All in all a wonderful property and great location close to so many North Shore attractions. Thanks for letting us enjoy your beautiful property!

This property was not cleaned. The floor was full of animal hair, & had big dust balls. The bathroom garbage was not emptied. The internet password in the property was incorrect. The light over the stove was burnt out. The room with the furnace was hot. The other two rooms were cold. No thermostat. Not on the snowmobile trail. Sauna was awesome.

Great location
Very nice location. Right on Gooseberry xc ski trails. Great views. As mentioned in other reviews, walls are thin. You will hear your neighbors and their pets. If you have reactive pets you may want to avoid.
