  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

The location is fantastic. The hotel is beautiful & very well maintained. The food at Ambrai restaurant was also very good. Staff was helpful. Only issue I had once was at dinner on Friday night when the restaurant got crowded & the intern waiters didn't coordinate my order well. Apart from that all good. The hotel also had private boat facility for sunset tour of lake Pichola, which was pricey but fantastic

We stayed there for the old Haveli experience and to spend a night right on the edge of the lake. That objective was totally achieved. But as it is in the old city approached through very narrow lanes, your taxi can not go there. You need to stop in the city centre from where Amet Haveli autos pick you up. Same way when you check out. While it is a bit of novelty, it is not super convenient. The Haveli is very comfortable but not a modern hotel I hesitated to rate it 4 because we went there for what it is, but more to alert others that you need to be clear what you want. If you are looking for a modern hotel, this is not the place. We went there as a one time experience. The rooms were small but comfortable

Location is fabulous right on lake. The entire staff was wonderful. Warm, friendly, helpful. Restaurant was good. We had a balcony over looking the lake. The room was large with many small touches. Huge shower. Windows that opened to lake with built in benches to just enjoy. We could have stayed there all day. We will be back!

The gorgeous view across the lake, the service, the delicious food at the connected Ambrai Restaurant, the fun & walkable neighborhood, and our adorable heritage-style room made our stay at Hotel Amet Haveli extra enjoyable. Our lake-facing suite with balcony was worth the upgrade for the décor and the view. Overall, the heritage style of the hotel is elegant, and both relaxing and vibrant at the same time. Additional renovations are ongoing, and I hope they will include space with a view for those who just want just a drink, even when the restaurant is busy. We hope to return to Hotel Amet Haveli if we ever get to pass this way again.

It’s a beautiful property in a wonderful setting. So tranquil and beautiful. The staff are excellent and very helpful. The boat trip around the lake was a real pleasure. Our room was large and spacious, with excellent views of the lake from two aspects. We would happily stay at this property again. Thoroughly recommended.

The best location second only to the Taj Lake Palace. Best views of the lake. Beautiful heritage rooms. Restaurant has a lovely location. Short walk to other restaurants and bars. Reception and concierge service are very limited. Shame there isn’t a decent bar with a view for sundowners. Lots of places nearby though. I’d stay here again for an authentic haveli

Tranquil Elegance

On arrival, (5 hours early), we were looked after very well, bags taken from us, put in store & directed to dinning terrace for breakfast, which was so lovely over looking the lake. Then we hung around the beautiful pool area until our room was ready. The room was beautifully presented.

Exceptional stay

Was nervous before going there but what a beautiful view and property thanks to the owner who can’t afford lake palace hotel they can go and enjoy even better views and facilities and enjoy their holiday.Amazing breakfast with amazing views and good evening meal with great view and food.Can’t wait to come back for more days and I hope they keep it same standard and Same price range.Restaurant staff are work hard and give great service with smiles.

Taxi could not drop us at the hotel and we had to take an auto rickshaw for a short trip. No problem just irritating. Minimum dinner spend was Rps 2000 per person so we ended up ordering more than we really wanted and the waiting staff seemed upset that we did not tip them for each meal. But it was a lovely hotel in a great location and we enjoyed our stay even if it was in only a standard room.
