I booked Hotel Sal Andina through Expedia for three nights, but my experience was extremely disappointing.
Expedia stated that English and Spanish were available, but I could not communicate with any staff member in English. All explanations were in Spanish, so I had to use a translation app every time. This made even simple interactions stressful.
Expedia also advertised a 24-hour front desk, but staff were not actually available 24 hours a day. I had a prepaid tour departing at 3:30 AM, but the entrance was locked when I tried to leave. I was worried about missing my tour. The hotel may have explained that guests needed to ring a bell at night, but the instructions were given in Spanish, which I could not understand.
The hotel advertised heating, but it was only available after 6:00 PM and was turned off in the early morning. In Uyuni's cold climate, the room was uncomfortably cold. The shower water pressure was also very weak.
Breakfast was disappointing, and there was no heating in the breakfast area.
Because the actual conditions did not match the information on Expedia, I reported the issues and asked Expedia to intervene regarding a refund. I booked three nights, but stayed only one night and moved to another hotel.
I cannot recommend Hotel Sal Andina and suggest choosing another hotel in Uyuni.
