Victoria guest house

A few things missing from kitchen supplies that would have made things better. Disappointed that there was no basic tv included snd wish there was a book of instructions for things in the house. It was a very nice guest house, snd the location was great for us.

Guest suite was nice enough, but we didn’t get check in instructions & had to track down the phone number of the owner, which wasn’t easy.I also think including pictures of the exterior on the booking site would be good. So people know what to expect from the neighbourhood. Luckily it was a short drive into Victoria,

I would like to give a positive review of this property, but unfortunately I can't. It was poorly supplied (inadequate toilet paper and no paper towel/Kleenex/laundry detergent), the bed frame in the second bedroom was broken and the cleaning was sub par (I'll spare you a photo of the bathroom vent, believe when I say it was disgusting). We messaged the owner about the low toilet paper supply and was told there *should have been more; however, nothing was done to address this. Photos of the outside of the property would have been more telling and we likely would have passed. We will not be staying here again.

The checkin process was terrible. The host did not send check in instructions and would not answer my calls, or vrbo emails. An hour after checkin the VRBO customer service was finally able to get in touch with the owner. He claimed he was unable to reach me by phone but never responded to email either, only to VRBO. When we arrived I noticed liquor bottles and trash in the driveway. The guesthouse was tucked behind a small house on a neighborhood property. There was no parking on the property for guests. We were told to park on the street or to look around for a place to park. A few people passed by us while parking that made us very uncomfortable. As we walked through the fence to the guesthouse there was junk in the yard, even a washer and dryer. The house looked clean but the vibe was bad. When I told the owner that we were not planning to stay due to feeling unsafe and the condition of the property he asked for proof of my findings and said the people I experienced on the way from the car to the guesthouse were irrelevant. I asked for a refund and said we would not be staying but have never heard back from him. I should not have to prove my findings as i have no reason to lie. I just wanted to be on vacation. VRBO, you can do better choosing hosts.
