Not a quiet home or neighborhood
There is no street parking allowed in this neighborhood. Host’s driveway was full upon my arrival, and had a lawnmower blocking the way. Attempted to message and call the host, and received no response. I was sent to voicemail immediately.
Once in the room, I was tired, and wanted to take a quick nap. That was not possible due to the noise from the neighborhood, children playing upstairs, the humming of a mini fridge in the room, and chatter from the host’s main home. I did not feel comfortable asking the host to keep the noise down in his own home, so I sent a message to the host thanking him for the opportunity to stay there, however it would not work due to the noise. I left, requested a refund via message, and went out to rent a hotel. Host never responded. I contacted VRBO and only then, received a message response from host. I attempted to call host’s number directly. Immediate voicemail. Host refused refund, and claimed to have made accommodations for noise, AFTER I had already left and only until I had contacted VRBO for assistance.
Host had also charged $40 for an “additional guest fee” even though I had booked for one person. This was refunded by host, but only after the second time it was brought to his attention. However, VRBO does not care about these frivolous fees, and proved they will side with owners in disputes, despite having access to message logs. Host was not understanding or accountable to valid claims.
Will not rent from this host or VRBO again.
