Wallaman Falls is the highest, permanent, single-drop waterfall in Australia. How high, you ask? 879 feet! And there's a trail to hike down to the base to get amongst the mist. This is the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, so in a wet year you may find the road has been washed out (as we did) but don't let that stop you - press on! It's worth it! Ditch the rental car, and walk what remains of the road to discover some of the oldest rainforests on earth and many endangered plants and animals.
Wallaman Falls in far north QLD is the longest single drop waterfall in OZ. It looks amazing from the top and super impressive at the base after a steep climb in. One of our favourite walks during our 2016 trip to Far North QLD
North of Townsville is Australia's highest waterfall.
