OB Retreat is your "home away from home" set amongst some grand homes of Oriental Bay with beautiful bush, beach & city walks at your doorstep. The balcony is a great place to relax & enjoy the view any time of day.
Five of the six bedrooms have Queen beds. One bedroom has two single beds that can be zipped together to make a Super King. We also have 4 foldout beds that can be set up in 4 of the rooms if you require separate sleeping arrangements for singles. The lounge has a sofa that folds out to a double bed and the 4-seater sofa can be used as a single bed.
Babes in arms stay free. We have 2 PortaCots - we just ask that you bring your own bedding. We also have a highchair & baby bath available. Please be mindful that the balcony outside does not have a barrier and there are steps that you will want to ensure your baby doesn't go down. There is a cost for infants (toddlers). Please advise number of infants when booking (refer House Rules).
Guests say staying "home" at OB Retreat is a pleasure. You have all the amenities on your doorstep i.e., bush, beach & urban walks, harbour view plus easy access to essential services. Oriental Bay is right by the harbour.
OB Retreat is one street back from the bay providing a quiet retreat. The main entrance is via a short private path leading to 24 steps that take you to the front door. The extra elevation rewards you with stunning views!
We have two parks for average sized vehicles on our car deck further up the street that you can use by arrangement. Parking on the street is also an option. It is free after hours or during the weekend/public hols or the first two hours during the business day. Parking permits are $18 per day & can be purchased at the local dairy. Please let us know how many vehicles you will have at time of booking so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Check in times are flexible if no "back2back" bookings. You're welcome to drop off bags prior to check-in. We live upstairs with separate access and are happy to help as much or as little as you desire. Please read the House Rules to ensure we have no other reason to interact.

"OB Retreat is superb. It's close enough to town to walk to dinner yet far enough away to be in a quiet seaside retreat. It's well appointed, the beds are comfy and the view is so good you can while away plenty of time watching the boats and breeze. The street is typical of many in Wellington and there are about 20 steps from the lane way to the house. Our sprightly 92 year old aunt stayed with us and had no trouble getting about. "Carolyn met us as we arrived with a warm welcome to her place, including all of the basic supplies we could have hoped for like tea, coffee and milk etc. The rest of our week at OB Retreat followed suit with everything provided to make our stay comfortable and convenient. Carolyn was available to accommodate any requests and to check everything was ok. OB Retreat was spotless and well appointed, and the view of Wellington Harbour is fantastic! We were in Wellington for our daughter's wedding and had 7 people staying most nights and OB Retreat was more than big enough for all of us. The bedrooms are located well enough away from the living areas to afford a quiet retreat if needed. Having 2 bathrooms worked really well for us too. The kitchen was fully equipped and we were able to prepare all our meals at home. I've stayed in AirBnB accommodation all around the world and OB Retreat has topped the lot!"
