"I was at Haven, formerly Hotel Schmidt-Monique in Bochum for 8-days. I arrived 25-minutes before the “official” check-in time and was told I could check-in early for €20. Needless to say I waited the 25 minutes. The new owners are focussing on the hotel so the restaurant that was originally part of the hotel complex is currently closed. "The staff seemed to be upset with me when I cancelled our breakfast reservations for the next morning. The next morning when asked if we were eating they were surprised that we weren't even though I had cancelled the night before.
No elevator......difficult to carry suitcases up 2 to 3 flights of stairs. Wish we would have seen this when searching for a place to stay. Didn't see that this was mentioned when looking at the amenities of the hotel.
