About this property

3 Bed in Troutbeck (oc-lr123)

  • Welcome to this gorgeous property, dating back to the 17th century, ideal for a relaxing friends or family get-together in the Lake District National Park. As the property is set within the picturesque village of Troutbeck, walkers will have plenty of choice with low and high-level trails to suit all abilities and ambitions. Stock Ghyll Force, Rydal Water Cave, and Loughrigg, all popular walking spots, are within 10 miles, and the lower slopes of Wansell Pike are accessible from Troutbeck. If you prefer the challenge of mountain biking, then Grizedale Forest, 14 miles away, offers plenty of opportunities among spectacular scenery. Brockhole on Windermere is less than 4 miles away and is the gateway to activities on and off the water suitable for all ages. Alternatively, take a trip on the Haverthwaite Steam Railway, or step into Beatrix Potter World, both within 15 miles of the property.

This gorgeous countryside retreat, set over two levels, is full of rustic character and charm and displays an array of original features throughout, including a wealth of oak beams, intriguing little alcoves, and a magnificent wood burner set in a wonderful inglenook. These beautiful, traditional features seamlessly blend with contemporary creature comforts to ensure a memorable stay. Enter via the front garden and step into a lovely hand-built farmhouse kitchen, a superb social space with a beamed ceiling and stable door leading out to the garden. The kitchen features all the necessary appliances for meal preparation, along with a breakfast table. The dining room beyond is ideal for a more formal dinner and features flagged floors, an original spice cupboard and a striking fireplace housing a wood burner for a cosy ambience. After dinner, move through the beamed archway into a delightful sitting room, full of character and offering plenty of comfortable sofas to unwind in after a day exploring the Lakes. Read or enjoy the view from the window seat. On chilly evenings, pop a log in the wood burner and settle in to watch TV. Original stone steps lead onto the large landing, where you'll find the three spacious bedrooms: one king-size with a deep window seat and an en-suite with a shower over bath and WC; one double room and one king-size bedroom with an additional single bed. Completing the interior features are a traditional-style bathroom and a shower room.

Head outside to discover the terraced gardens, featuring a mix of lawn and patio areas. Relax on the outside furniture and dine alfresco while taking in the far-reaching views across the valley. Sometimes the sheep and cattle on the farm next door graze just below the garden wall. Private parking for two cars is available just outside the gate.
