"We booked a last-minute one-night stay after a day at West Midlands Safari Park, and it turned out to be a wonderful decision. From the moment we arrived at The Hadley Bowling Green, we felt welcome. The team member who checked us in was friendly and attentive, setting the tone for a relaxing stay. The setting is beautiful—far more charming than the photos suggest. We enjoyed drinks in the beer garden, a perfect sunny spot to unwind. Dinner was a highlight: fresh, well-presented, and full of flavour. One small note—fish and chips is listed with two prices, which we assumed meant standard or large. We didn’t request large but were charged for it. Not a major issue, and possibly a misunderstanding, but clearer guidance would help. We also had another table’s drinks added to our bill, though this was quickly and politely resolved. Our room was comfortable with thoughtful touches like freshly baked cookies and magazines. Breakfast was outstanding—10/10. Service was warm, and the ingredients excellent. The Butcher’s Breakfast (small supplement) was well worth it, with plenty of other great options too. Overall, a fantastic stay. We’d happily return. Updating the marketing photos would better reflect how lovely the property and food truly are. Thank you to the team!"

"My wife and I stayed one night in a downstairs twin room, it was clean, tidy and met the requirement. However, the food offering was not acceptable and the manner in which the complaint was made was in my option poorly handled. At dinner I ordered a medium rare sirloin steak (£28). The steak was tough/rubbery, difficult to cut even with the sharp knife provided. The replacement was no better so when asked what else I wanted I opted for the T Bone steak. Although easier to cut it was of poor quality, had no taste and again rubbery in texture so I eat very little of that. Having stated to the lady in charge that night that I was not happy with the food quality and that in my view there was a souring issue relating to the steaks there was an apparent indifference as to being prepared to properly resolve the matter. I settled the bill only to then find after paying that they had charged me £40 for the T Bone steak that itself was not acceptable. I would certainly not go back to this pub as much by our experience with the quality of food and the manner in which my complaint at the time was handled by the staff. "

"The room was very clean and comfortable. The grounds were very well maintained and there was a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The stay was let down by the breakfast. The bacon was excellent, my sausage was pink in the middle so I only ate half, the mushrooms were tinned or something similar, the tomato wasn’t cooked and the potato things were frozen. The eggs were probably good but I don’t eat eggs. The cost of this very poor breakfast for the two of us was £40+. The service wasn’t good. The toast was brought at the same time as the cooked breakfast so was cold to eat. We had to ask for preserves as these weren’t offered. Sauce to accompany the cooked breakfast wasn’t offered either. We definitely won’t return because of this which is a shame. I also was taken aback when I was called ‘babe’ by the receptionist. Not very business like!"
