What stood out? Everything stood out, from the way the attractive artwork perfectly matched the accent wall, to the ambience of the communal dining room, the comfort of the bed and pillows, the soft orange glow of the fireplace in the dark when I walked in to the room for the first time - care and attention to detail was evident in every spotless crevice. Breakfast was fun and delicious, every moment in the room whole working or relaxing was quiet and delightful. 10/10

We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Black Walnut Inn. The Inn is just lovely. Everything was so clean and we had everything we needed when we got there. The property is beautiful and the room was so cozy. The best part about it was the breakfast. Homemade bread, fresh baked sweet treats, and fresh eggs from the hens on the property. Next time we are visiting our niece in Amherst we will for sure be staying there.

Beautiful Inn with modern well appointed room. Breakfast was lovely. We were on the bottom floor and there was a bit of noise from the upstairs. Also the Inn is on a busy road so there was noise from traffic in the morning however they did provide free ear plugs. The location was convenient to everything.

The room itself was very nice. But, the room had an emergency exit door that was located right next to the bed area and the street noise from that door was awful. It sounded like we were on the street. Breakfast was delicious and staff were great. Would be a 5 if not for the street noise.

This is a B&B place and we were in the house portion. We knew it was twin beds coming in but the mattresses were a bit bouncy. GREAT property!!!

excellent stay at the Black Walnut Inn

Lovely historic inn! Very well appointed and spacious room, comfortable common area, attentive hosts, great breakfast (including eggs from the inn's beautiful chickens, and homemade bread), mattress was quite firm (whether it is too firm is just a matter of taste). One suggestion: have pullout sofas in the larger rooms and suites that include sofas -- our son was a little too tall for the non-pullout sofa. He still found a way to sleep on it comfortably, but others may not. Other than that, an excellent stay!
