Architecturally, it’s a flawless tribute to the 1960s — the lines, colors, and signage capture that nostalgic mid-century style perfectly — yet every amenity feels brand new and designed for 2025 living. The rooms are spotless and thoughtfully updated with modern comforts, but they still keep the vintage character alive through clever design touches and décor. The staff are wonderfully attentive and clearly take pride in every detail, both inside and out. The motel’s pet-friendly policy makes it a great stop for travelers with furry companions, and the cleanliness throughout is outstanding. Outside, the patio and pool area sit perched on a gentle hill, offering a relaxing spot to unwind after a day of driving. The location is ideal — walkable to several local restaurants and cafes. For anyone traveling through Auburn, the Foothill Motel is an unexpected five-star experience that blends classic style with today’s comfort and hospitality.

We love this place and come here at times for a night away. The way this hotel was redone, updated but still has those 70’s and 60’s vibes, I feel like I’ve stepped back in time every time we visit.

Everything was fine until Wed night around 9,:30 when a bunch of kids were screaming and laughing outside my area. I was almost tempted to leave as didn't know if it would go on all night. Fortunately it stopped . Not sure I would take a chance on booking a room there again.

Pros: Great check-in (we arrived around 9p, so not busy, but very pleasant interaction); room was completely redone - modern bathroom, laminate floors and a retro feel to the living space, which was super fun compared to the standard cookie-cutter rooms available nearby; comfortable lounge chairs placed in clusters around the property and lights along the building perimeters complimented the retro feel. For us, the lights created a nearly magical arrival, especially for seasoned road-trippers. Cons: Not a lot of privacy between bathroom & sleeping area, as there is a pocket door used to maximize space (at leadt in our room). This was a very small con for us since we do a lot of travel as a family, but thought I would mention for other travelers. Overall: Would absolutely stay again and will recommend to anyone traveling in the area.
