Situated in one of New Zealand's most desirable holiday hot spots, this contemporary home offers all of the essentials for a relaxing retreat on the West Coast. Open plan living, dining, and lounging paired with stunning wooden floors give this home a relaxing and spacious feel.

Accommodate up to 13 guests with two king beds, a bunk bed (single & double), and five double mattresses in the lounge areas. Equipped with two bathrooms, this large home has no shortage of space and is perfect for a group.

Place was beautiful with the sea views, sad the fridge wasn't working, could smell the fridge gas coming out, so turned it off for the remainder of our stay. Other then that we all lo ed our rooms.and the sea breeze and air coming through the house was amazing. Thank you David.

Great view but only two comfy double beds!
If you are seeking serenity by the sea away from the hustle and bustle of life this is a perfect place but there are some issues with the sleeping arrangements! The property only really catered for two double beds and a kids double bed with single bunk above. We were 7 adults and one was elderly which meant we had a couple who had no bed and had spent $320 for one nights stay!! I spent hours over email trying to get the property owner to help find a solution but he insisted there was plenty of beds citing that there were double mattresses in the garage and a sofa bed. The mattresses in the dusty, dirty, cobwebby garage were singles, had no covers on them and it was therefore safe to assume they were dirty/dusty. The sofa bed was broken ( legs bent) and unsafe! The additional bedding sheets were also in the garage in a cubhard and looked tired. I took videos and pictures… We stayed for two nights and only 3 of us stayed the second night because of the uncomfortable kids bunk. In relation to adjusting the price for a refund the last communication from the owner stated that he would have his partner view the numbers of people staying on camera and we still haven’t had a refund!! For a balanced review the two adult double beds we’re comfortable and therefore the property would suit two couples and three children sharing the bunk.

Great location
Totally recommend this location - we all loved it.. the views and spaces were awesome and suited our family. Awesome dining, entertaining area and great to have separate bathrooms. We only discovered the aircon on our last night - but I didn't actually look through the full compendium - which would have saved a few mossie bites. We loved the location - we will be back with friends again.

My family and I stayed here the night before my wedding, the house was clean and inviting, beautiful views, quiet neighbourhood and was a relaxing space. The house can definitely not sleep 13 however but was comfortable with the 8 we had stay as we bought along a double air mattress. Come prepared with basics such as tea/coffee/sugar/milk and body wash, overall a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Great location, needs a little bit of work
My family and I stayed at the Muriwai house for 4 days over New Year’s Eve. I’ll start this review by saying we had a great time and overall, I’d rate this property a 4 out if 5 for the following reasons: Pros: -Amazing location with incredible views. You’re less than half a mile walk from the ganet colony and you’ve got 180 degree views of some of the most amazing coastline right from the living room. that alone is probably worth the price of admission. - the living room and kitchen space was large enough for us to comfortably hang out without feeling cramped. Great indoor/outdoor vibes - David the property manager was very responsive and easy to deal with. He allowed us early check in and was quick to help with any issues or questions - plenty of parking for 2+ cars - short downhill walk or 2 min car ride to the beach/sand dunes cafe. -great outdoor space for barbecues and outdoor dinners in the summer -well stocked books and cards etc for indoor fun - large tv and pinball machine (we didn’t use) - short drive from some fun hikes -only 30-40mins from Auckland CBD Cons: - lack of some basics; as others have mentioned you’ll need to bring your own soaps, cleaning supplies (sprays etc) but that’s not a big deal. - the front door was absolutely unuseable and needs to be replaced asap. It’s on a google nest keypad (keyless) and is clearly old/malfunctioning. We got locked out several times because it wouldn’t fully open the deadbolt and it was a nuisance. - mold: there’s definitely a mold issue that needs to be looked at particularly in the master bedroom/tv room. Noticed the carpet got a little damp after the shower was used. One of our parties allergies we’re definitely impacted. - air conditioning unit in the master bedroom area was malfunctioning and at one point had giant icicles hanging off of it (and making really loud noises). Nice to have given the upstairs does get quite hot in summer but it Needs to get checked - I really don’t think you could have 13 people in this house as that would be a bit tight. There are 3 bedrooms (one with bunks) and then some mattresses in the garage that I guess you could pull out, but it’d be cramped. Overall, we had a good time at a fun beachouse in a great part of Auckland

Memorable Weekend
A wonderful location for a family celebration and gathering. David’s place is very comfortable, quiet, with amazing views, good off street vehicle parking for several vehicles and adequately set up for a larger group. Comfortable beds, nice linen/towels etc. Two good bathrooms to share. Highly recommend for a larger group.

Lovely spot.
Great spot. Tidy and has lovely views. No chance of accomodating 13 people as advertised however it was not required. Very minimal in way of cleaning stuff/fridge space and tea towels etc but we enjoyed our stay. Thanks.

Disappointing at times, good location
I'll start with the positives: Great location Great views The beds in the bedrooms were made up properly Nicely sized oven and freezer, good stovetop. Negatives: Firstly unfortunately there was an issue where we had to pay an extra cleaning fee for leaving the house 'in a state's, which I never do and always leave it tidy! So it was upsetting and confusing. Additionally we were blamed for leaving rubbish 'down the street', we took our rubbish with us as the bins were full. So that was unfortunate. There was mould EVERYWHERE, I cleaned a lot up, but there was still more. There was mould on the mattresses. The outdoor furniture was all broken and unusable. The BBQ was rusted and mouldy. There was scaffolding out the front for an inexplicable reason. The front door was broken and very hard to open and close. The spare linen was shoved in the cupboard, not folded, and it was all polyester, unclear if it was clean or not. The towels were musty. I think this is a fair review. I certainly felt it was a beautiful house in a beautiful location and beautiful amenities. The communication with David was good. Unfortunately the cleanliness/broken furniture was disappointing and obviously the experience being blamed for things we didn't do was quite upsetting, however, I did pay up as requested. I did read some disappointing reviews on here and went ahead with the booking anyway, but this time I think I should have listened. It was still a lovely weekend with some close friends celebrating a wedding, and I had two little ones In tow. Beware the stairs if you have a young one who is obsessed with them!

Not what we expected
House was dirty . Cobwebs on inside of windows ,fridge dirty . Food that was left for use (sugar) wAs full of ants . Doors snd windows not opening . Outside furniture dirty and wouldn’t use it . Things didn’t work . Pots and pans dirty. Tea towel and fish cloth dirty . Very very disappointing. I don’t know how you can advertise and rent a house In That condition out . I paid for friends to stay . It was embarrassing

View spoiled by Scaffolding, dirty oven
This is potentially a very nice place to stay but the oven was really greasy and dirty and we paid lots for a cleaning fee so I think this should be refunded. The view would have been lovely but there was scaffolding in the way - we were not warned about that and I would like a partial refund seeing as the view is what attracted us to the place.

Great experience with the family
We really enjoyed our stay. What a beautiful property in a gorgeous spot. We stayed 2 night and found the beds and layout of the house very comfortable. We loved the pinball machine and the amazing views. Only the cleanliness was an issue. Still food and dirt left from the last guests. Would love to come back and stay again one day.

Beautiful place in Muriwai
We had a great weekend, super relaxing with lots of walks to the gannet colony and beach. Lovely place with heaps of space, would have been nice to have a few basic kitchen items like salt/pepper/oil/kitchen towels and the bbq wasn’t usable, but otherwise everything was great. We really enjoyed the view and the sunsets.

Beautiful views
This place has beautiful views overlooking the ocean. The master bedroom and bathroom feel luxurious and the kitchen and living area is very nice. Good heating too. The only thing is there is only one TV and it's not in the living area it's outside the master bedroom and really hard to use but if you don't mind not having TV in your living area this place is lovely. (Lots of stairs but we loved it)

Amazing views
The house is lovely, and was an excellent place to reunite with our family on our return to NZ after 2.5 years. The house is spacious, views are amazing and is a close walk to beach and gannet colony. The only problem I had with the house is that it was not clean upon arrival. The barbeque had mold on it, so it wasn't useable. There were no cleaning products in the house, which would have been helpful. Overall, the house is really great, but use the cleaning fee to have the house thoroughly cleaned.

The place was excellent, the guys all loved the view and would recommend others to stay there. David was real easy to deal with and if we did have any issues i knew it would be dealt with quickly. He helped make our stay an awesome one, his cleaners were real helpful and and nothing was a problem. If there was anything i would have loved to have had a broom to sweep the floors with to show that we respected the place and left it as tidy as we could. Thanks Spud
