And in the evening, the ultimate spectacle: unforgettable sunsets over the sea by candlelight, set to the backdrop of soft music. <br>Welcome to Ault-Onival, the Bois de Cise, and the surrounding area—a site officially designated as a “Grand site de France.” Ideally located north of the Maritime Bresle Valley and south of the Baie de Somme, a “UNESCO World Heritage Site” (the world’s most beautiful natural coastline), on the Picardy coast. We are delighted to introduce you to our seaside destination, which offers a magnificent and captivating panorama. Cradle lies 140 kilometers north of the Chalk Cliffs or “The End of the World,” to the south lies the head of the Somme Bay with the “Hâble d’Ault” marsh—so many magnificent landscapes and colors to enjoy in more ways than one. This 450-hectare “plain” is covered by seawater during very strong tides, with a string of pebbles attempting to protect these “plains.” This area serves as a natural sanctuary for birds, resulting in the presence of 250 protected bird species. By taking the trail along the coast between Cayeux-sur-mer and Onival, you’ll be able to spot many birds, such as swans, green-necked teals, common spoonbills, and more. You’ll walk through the middle of the lagoons, which are equipped with duck-hunting blinds. An orientation map is available to hikers on this trail (Hautebut). Between the Alabaster Coast and the Opal Coast, this village—with its lighthouse, its sandy beach with tidal flats, its world-renowned flora and fauna, its natural forest, and its lush green valley will allow you to hike, ride a horse, or bike. What a wonderful pleasure it is to walk through the Bois de Cise, Ault, and Onival along the coast, on a section of the old customs road. As far as the eye can see, you’ll notice the fields, meadows, and marshes stretching out to the sea, discovering its natural, architectural, and historical treasures. from the 14th century (church bell tower), the site of its sunken city in the 16th century, 200 meters offshore (Perroir area), during the heyday of the spas with the town’s development into a seaside resort in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many of whose villas and ceramics still bear witness to this glorious, timeless past—a symbol of a rediscovered present and a promising future. Onival, very popular during the season, offers a lovely sandy beach, which is particularly popular because it is surrounded by pebble beaches. Boat access to the sea is available. Many shrimp fishermen gather there one hour before high tide to set out their “bichette” (haveneau). <br>A path along the seashore offers a pleasant stroll in Ault. This beautifully landscaped path also protects the cliff from erosion. <br>Leaving Ault in the direction of Mers-les-Bains, turn right at St. Quentin-la-Motte toward the Bois de Cise.<br> This designated area is very picturesque. Set in a wooded area, the villas—some of which date back to the 19th century—offer a timeless spectacle. This site has been visited by notable figures such as Victor Hugo, who was inspired by the surroundings to write a letter to his wife. Also check out the Abalone “Chapelle Sainte Edith” trail.<br> 8 km away. Le Tréport, with its harbor of 70 small boats in the town center, the shopping district, and the recreational area, offers year-round entertainment in our town.<br>The sandy and pebbly beach at the foot of Europe’s tallest chalk cliffs (106 m) is an unparalleled attraction.
