A wonderful gem to find last minute. Better than expected, as I appreciated how close I would be to the front street but I was pleasantly surprised at the value of the room even though the price was lower than other hotels. I was in rm 212. It was clean and a great size. The bathroom had a lovely skylight too. I liked that my particular window looked into a wall because then I could keep it open for light without passerbys seeing in. The room was perfect temp with the AC/heater. Bed was very comfy! Cute simple decor. Nothing grand but nice for the price. Loved it. The front staff was kind and I felt very safe leaving my bags on the rack while I explored before and after check in/out. Simple breakfast but appreciated. Overall I would DEFINITELY stay there again. Great choice.

The hotel was in the center of everything, and we were able to check-in early. After checking out they allowed use the to leave our luggage there until we were able to catch our ferry.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. It was so nice to be able to store our luggage after checkout so we could continue exploring on our last day before it was time for our ferry. The room was small and a little outdated, but very comfortable and quiet. Perfect for the 2 nights we spent there. Perfect location, central to everything!

Air conditioning is good. Bathroom and toilet function well and shops are just below the hotel. It's in front of the water next to a lot of restaurant and store for your need. Beds are decent. Tv functions well and they have a small breakfast . You can Also leave your bag if check in is not available and if you want to explore after check out. So far so good.

We stayed in two rooms. The courtyard King (134, i think) was very small, dingy, dark, smelly, and it was unpleasant. By contrast, the Oceanview King (202) was much larger, airy, with great views. Also cost a lot more. But on the whole, was worth it.

My room key did not work. I went to my room and the door was already open. I put my bags in and closed the door. When I returned after dinner, my key did not work. I called the after hours phone number several times and no answer. I never received a call back.

Premier location in the heart of Avalon. So close to everything! Older property but well maintained and clean. Staff were excellent. Unexpected continental breakfast with pastries, fruit, coffee and juice. Luggage storage was perfect for before/after check in, but we were lucky our room was ready early. Highly recommend!

The hotel was clean. Did its job. Steps so be aware for those with bad knees or wheelchair peeps. Didn’t know that myself but it was manageable for us. Rooms are small but for two it was ok. They did have a small bfast and coffee in the mornings.

The Hotel Mac Rae was a really nice place to be. I think of it as old California. The hotel is old, but well cared for. The room was small but clean and well appointed. The patio was great for me, quiet and sunny, a great place to hang out. The best part is that the hotel is in the middle of the Embarcadero. You can walk from the Catalina Express to the hotel. You can walk to most restaurants in Avalon in 5-minutes.
