We enjoyed staying in a historic place with a very beautiful view of the Douro River. Please note that the only way to get there is by car and the most convenient option is to take advantage of the dinner offered. It should be noted that there is an opportunity to taste very good local wine on site.
Our stay at Quinta da Ermida was overall fantastic. There were 5 of us staying in the 3-bedroom apartment, which was its own house with separate entry and private bathroom for each room. The view was gorgeous of the river and the train, and the property was beautiful to venture and take in the amazing views. We had some issues communicating with the staff as their English was quite limited, but they were friendly and earnest to try and resolve them. Continental breakfast is included but we didn’t try the dinner based on the reviews. Highly recommend the property and the A&D winery nearby for the best service and quality Vino Verde wines and self-guided tour of the vineyard.

Cool building. Skip the restaurant.
Nice old building, great location. Rooms were in a very traditional style which l liked.
Food was awful, restaurant has photos online show fine dining. We were the only guests so maybe the chef was off but 20 euros for 2 dry chicken drum sticks with chips and a luke warm cabbage soup was fairly unreasonable.
Fantastic family-owned hotel and restaurant. Beautiful area; great dinners and breakfasts on the patio overlooking the river. Wonderful room. Thank you!
beautiful hotel and property, friendly and helpful staff, nice antiques throughout the property and rooms, dinner is available - simple but good, winery on-site but no tours or tastings, although you can enjoy their wines there

Winter weekend
Charming estate in very pretty waterfront setting. Hotels.com website had wrong telephone number and wrong coordinates. The link actually had us directed across the river. We were re-directed by hillside residents opposite the site.
Nydelig bygning fra barokk tiden . Et veldig idyllisk sted, stille og fredelig. Er ikke særlig egnet for barnefamilier. Syntes kanskje badene burde vært renovert.
Beautiful secluded propert right on the river. We stayed in the apartment on the property that is an old stone house and was so cute! We opted to stay for dinner which was outside on the patio by the river and was delicious and relaxing. And breakfast was lovely as well. My kids enjoyed the pool, tennis courts and pool and fuse ball tables.
We had difficulties in finding it as it was dark and we missed the turning a couple of times. However the location is gorgeous and the breakfast was good. There was no soap or hairdryer so make sure you bring your own. A good overnight stay.

Disliked: Staff & service
Stayed in the apartment
Hotel is in a magical spot on the Duoro river edge - even has its own river beach. Can’t review rooms but stayed in apartment and it was a lovely area for the children but the kitchen was poorly equipped (no kettle, no oven mit, no colinder etc) and it was dirty. The overall service is very friendly but poor - you can never find anyone and they don’t speak English! The owners are around (shouting at each other often) but are super unfriendly and their dog barks a lot even at night. The pool is excellent near the river but no shallow end for kids and they had an unfilled Jacuzzi which my son fell into one day. The food is like home cooked meals and cost 22 euros per person. The wine is very bitter and thin. The boat ride they offer is nice but the boat is in need of repair. The beds were uncomfortable. The grounds the hotel is on are magical but there is an open aqauduct running through the property with untreated water and open ponds so for families of young kids it is challenging. There is a steep narrow staircase inside the apartment so not for the elderly or young children. The bedroom set up is a king upstairs and then 2 rooms downstairs so not ideal to separate a young family.
We were early in the season and the only guests staying in Country Estate Villa. Lovely old estate, clean breakfast good. Gabriella amazing, only draw back was the rooms were cold and running water took sometime to warm up.. We could see the hotel would be best booked between say April - October,
We had a great visit for 3 nights. The hotel is a long up and down hill 1 km walk from the train station so take a 4 Euro taxi. Once there, you will find a fine old quinta and wine estate with pool, great views, and good home-cooked food. Big beds but firm. No entertainment and nothing to visit unless you board the train again for day trips to Regua, Pinhão or Artiegos. Car would be better but we did well without. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Very relaxing stay.
The place itself is amazing and surprising, the view is adorable and the house is very unique .
Near the river and the service and breakfast were excellent
The bad and the design
The shower and the bedroom are very old and could be improved a little bit.
Nice romantic and quiet place, very recommended
The estate is exceptional. The view of the Douro river, The Valley and the surroundings breathtaking. We were treated by the owners and staff like family and everything about this place was spectacular, including the boat cruise and visit to their own winery. The food and their own wine were amazing. We can't wait to come back with family and friends. We've travelled a lot for 25 years, but this place has made the number one in our list. We love it and will never forget our stay there.
This is a wonderfully historic 19th century Quinta tucked in a corner along the Douro River. The Quinta feels completely removed from the outside world, but is easily accessible by train. It made a perfect base for exploring the Douro valley. The house and grounds are exceptionally beautiful. The food, much of which comes from the farm, was fresh and delicious - the best food I ate during my stay in Portugal. Some of the people working here spoke English, others spoke French, and everyone was warm and welcoming no matter what languages they spoke. A real gem. Hard to imagine a more beautiful and relaxing place to stay in Portugal.
