I recently stayed at the Ramada Hotel in Bakersfield, and my first impression was quite positive. The lobby was nice, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, earning a solid 5 stars for their service.
However, my experience took a downturn when we entered our room. As we were opening the sofa bed for our two boys, we found two crack pipes and a lighter. This was alarming and unacceptable. We immediately requested a new room.
The new room was also disappointing. The air conditioning unit was old and emitted a moldy smell. The carpet was worn out, there were cracks on the wall, and the flooring was coming apart.
Additionally, the exterior of the hotel was in poor condition. The walls around the outside of the hotel had numerous spider webs, indicating a possible spider infestation. As we tried to enjoy the pool, we noticed that things were falling apart around us. There was also a noticeable stain at the bottom of the pool, suggesting it wasn't properly maintained.
Overall, it was a very bad experience. I won't be staying at this Ramada location again. While I understand that Bakersfield is a common stopover for travelers, the discovery of the crack pipes and the general lack of maintenance raise serious concerns about the cleanliness and safety of the hotel. I appreciate the friendly staff, but the state of the rooms and the exterior need significant improvement.
