Terlingua Casita de Chiles Barndominium

"It is in a lovely remote area. We got to see mule dear, birds, rabbits, and even a black bear!! I knew it was a long drive back Terlingua ranch Rd, but everyone should be prepared to drive slow and it takes about 30 minutes from the main Hwy Texas 118. So if you don’t have many days it’s quite a drive to do everyday if you want to go to the Parks. The place has plenty of outdoor sitting on every side to stay cool. The hot tub heats very slow and is at a new spot, but we enjoyed it the second night. It is best for a group of 4, and we had 6 so it was a little tight in the house, but I knew that and we made it work. We tried to use water sparingly but we had plenty. We didn’t get to do the ATV rides as Mark and Michelle weren’t home during our stay which was the main reason I chose this home so check about that first before booking if this is important to you. The kids enjoyed corn hole and swam in the nearby pool one morning. We probably will choose closer to Big Bend National Park next time we get to visit this area, but we did enjoy the quiet this place offered!! Clean up and check out were extremely easy!! Thank you!!"
Chisos Mountain Lodge

"The room was clean and comfortable, and the fridge and the microwave worked. So did the air conditioner, still useful in late September! The lodge is convenient to many of the best hikes in Big Bend. The nearby store is well-stocked for a National Park store. With the exception of a power outage (of the whole park!) my last night there, everything was perfect. I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and I expect to!"

"This was a great location for a family getaway to the Big Bend area. The house had plenty of room for our family of four, the kitchen was well stocked with what we needed to cook dinner there two of our three nights, and the remoteness was great for getting out of civilization and enjoying true quiet and darkness. If we return to the area in the future, we would definitely look to rebook this property."

"I had a wonderful stay at Terlingua Ranch Retreat. It was perfect for me—very remote, peaceful, and completely tranquil. The stars at night were incredible, and the cabin gets lovely breezes with spectacular views in every direction. The unit was also very clean, and I had no issues during my stay.Not at all a concern for me , but the retreat is about 30 minutes from Terlingua and the Ghost Town, so it may feel a little far if you want to be close to everything. Load up on groceries in Alpine before heading down and you’re good to go! Place has gas cook top and gas grill outside. If you want privacy, beautiful scenery, and absolutely no noise or crowds, this place is perfect. I would definitely stay here again!"
