“This property is not as advertised.We left after one night. We were booked for two weeks. The nice pictures may have been from when it was first listed. Some serious renovations and a deep clean needed including a full carpet replacement. Bathroom has black mold under shower knobs; shower curtains are dirty and moldy; children’s bedroom had a squeaky bunk, was missing a fire alarm; washer had rust on the lid. I could go on. Hopefully the pictures tell the story. ”

“We stayed at Star of the Sea in Carolina Beach, NC. The interior was clean, and the listing photos inside were accurate. Communication from the owners was prompt and appreciated. Being able to bring my dog was a plus.However, the outdoor space did not match the listing. The photos appear filtered and didn’t reflect the actual condition. The sectional appeared different than pictured, and the cushions were very dirty, making it unusable. The listing also showed a rug, but the area was just bare……

“Great view!! Our access to the beach was blocked for a week during our 3 week stay due to the beach replenishment project. The fridge face is all rusty, the dishwasher worked only when you really slammed the door! The furniture was dingy, dirt, stained and warn out and the sofa had burns on the reverse side. The bedding had a dirty smell, we washed the blankets before we seeped in the bed. This place needs a deep clean!! The owner wanted to come by during our stay to update the outlets.”

“Host is super nice and responsive. Place is clean, awesome location, and everything worked as it should!”

“The good: Location is fantastic. The bad: kitchen cabinets needs mold remediation; smell and visible green mold buildup on shelves. Mattresses worn and uncomfortable.”
