wonderful home in perfect location

This is a beautiful home with everything a family could want. It is also located in the middle of the island-- a short distance from everything. Wonderful place for a vacation.

Comfy and Cozy Beach Cottage

Nicely nestled on the island. Provides all the amenities of a wonderful beach getaway vacation including all the practical items to make our stay comfortable. We felt like we were staying at family or friends’ house.

Very Nice Home on BHI

We really enjoyed our stay at Mears Merritime. Home was clean upon arrival. We had plenty of space for 5 people. Centrally located on the island and close to the market, shops and restaurants.

Beach Week

Mears Merritime is a very comfortable home, and has all the amenities needed for a week away from home. Centrally located, very easy access to the market, to the harbor and to the beach. The gazebo is a quiet place to escape and read or have a cup of coffee. We enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic as always

Once again a perfect stay. We have stayed at this property in the past and expect to stay here again. It is very comfortable well stocked and well maintained. The property manager was excellent and accessible. Another wonderful experience on BHI.

Shady retreat

Lovely, cool retreat a few minutes by cart from several beach accesses. Several great areas to lounge and congregate - gazebo, around dining room table, outdoor patio, or living room. We were 5 adults and never felt cramped or crowded.

Wonderful as always

As usual the house was clean and quiet. This was our 5 th time staying in the house and everything was as we left it last year. We prefer the interior location rather than the beach houses for the privacy and the shade. Looking forward to getting back as soon as we can find the time. Mears is perfect for us

Wonderful Stay!!!

We have been coming to BHI for almost 20 years. This is our second time staying at Mears Maritime and it has become our favorite house. We especially love the screened outdoor porch. The only problem we had this week was one of the golf carts stopped working. the second day, however we still had the 6 seater cart so all was good🙂 Hope to see you Summer 2023!

I thought the house was great except for the master bedroom. The owner has not left any closet space for guests. There are 3 closets and all of them are full and guests are not allowed to use them. Also, there was a small storage area in the master bedroom that was full of owner belongings. I think that it is inconsiderate.

Great property!

We had an amazing 4th of July week at Mears Merritime! Clean and comfortable house. Very cozy and loved the books and dvds. Both golf carts worked great all week. Plenty of bikes and beach chairs all in working order. Very well maintained home. Great layout with the master down and 2 additional bedrooms upstairs. Nice location also. We prefer the Forest. Screened in porch was huge and so peaceful. My kids said they felt like the homeowners were “nice” because of the vibes and comfort of the home. Very welcoming. Beach towels were advertised, but not there. We called and within an hour a bagful of beach towels were dropped off at our doorstep. Well stocked kitchen with nice cookware. Comfortable beds. We had an awesome week!!

Comfy and spacious

We really enjoyed our stay! We were a group of two married couples and two 22 year old kids. We had plenty of room to spread out and all feel like we had our own space. The house was well appointed and we lacked for nothing. The book shelves in the living room were a great feature and were diverse enough that we all found a favorite. The game selection was fantastic so between the gazebo, games, books, and large dining table we didn't use the TV in the evening at all. The two golf carts were incredibly handy as 22 years old could do their thing while we couples could do ours. Highly recommend staying here!

Great location

First time staying in the forest and we loved it! Convenient to all of our favorite spots on the island. House was clean, comfortable and cozy. Beds comfortable. Definitely a need for better closet space/storage in the master, as well as food storage in the kitchen. We would rent here again!

Tucked in the Woods

The Mears Merritime is a well-used home; but it served our purposes. All beaches were only a short golf-cart ride away; and we had easy access to all Bald Head Island amenities. We relaxed and enjoyed a true island paradise!

House is well stocked but needs work

We’ve been to BHI several times and stayed in the forest. This house was okay and my least favorite. Things I wish I had known prior to arrival are: the golf cart does not have working seatbelts, the towels have holes in them, the house has cobwebs in almost every room. This is a pet friendly home and while we have a pet I don’t think I’ll stay in another pet friendly home. On the positive side, the house is well stocked and reasonably priced. I’d rather pay more for updated accommodations and two golf carts with working seatbelts.

Mears Merritime is a great place!

Lucky find!

We didn't think we would be able to find a Labor Day weekend rental on BHI, but this gem popped up for us. Very comfortable house with all the necessities. Great location while feeling like you are away from it all. Will gladly return.
