Whether it is Summer or Winter, sunny or foggy, warm (never hot) or chilly, once you cross the bridge from the mainland the rhythm of the tides (12') is hard to resist.
You will never lack for things to see and do. A short 5 minute drive takes you to the end of Beals Island to Wass Island where the Downeast Institute is located along with some of the U.S.'s best hiking, kayaking and birdwatching. Another short trip (about 5 miles) takes you to beautiful Sandy Beach, which is not only picturesque but great for sunbathing or a refreshing dip. Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, Campobello Island, St. John N.B., Eastport, and Quoddy Head are all an easy and fun day trip.
From sardine museum to mustard factory to reversing rapids to tiny baby lobsters to giant whirlpools; you can see it all. And the world's best seafood. Lobster, Crabmeat, Scallops, Mussels, Clams, Haddock, Halibut, and Gulf of Maine Shrimp to either be prepared to your taste in the new and fully equipped kitchen or enjoyed at one of the excellent (and typically modestly priced) restaurants in the area.
For our guests who require handicap accessibility there is a 'to code' entrance ramp leading to the open downstairs living area.
