The relaxing evenings were nice by the firepit. Neighbor extremely quiet. Home had every kitchen appliance and utensil to cook, plus spices were provided. Plenty of towels available for the swimming. The township of Fox Lake had a wonderful public children's water park only a couple miles away. Bathrooms were stocked in case you forgot anything. Kathy was absolutely wonderful allowing for friends to come over for a birthday party for our granddaughter.

Wonderful experience

Our family all stayed at Kathy’s place to celebrate the 4th of July together. It was different than other rentals we have stayed at for we didn’t feel like renters, rather we felt like family. Kathy was extremely hospitable and made us feel extremely welcome. We were amazed at how well stocked the place was as it seemed like she had everything we could possibly need. Thank you for making our family vacation a great one!

Property not what was expected

Patio/deck in disarray. Cleaned many webs from the boards and corners. Weeds coming through the upright deck boards. Bugs in various places in the house. Floors not clean. Areator at dock not functioning. General upkeep of a vacation rental property showed poor maintenance including overall yard care. Linens and bedding were clean.

Very Enjoyable

We had a really nice weekend. Kathy was more than accommodating, providing, and friendly. Beaver Dam was a lot of fun too. Friendly locals and quaint little town. :) Don't forget to check out LeRoys for your fresh Wisconsin dairy!!

Family Weekend Retreat

Beautiful Country Lakefront setting! Large yard. Peaceful, yet still close to neighboring homes & short driving to local attractions & towns. So many extras with this property and a very kind & accommodating host! Unique & lovely spiral staircase feature to all 4 second level bedrooms (plus outdoor straight staircase to master bedroom balcony/deck) Games, Books, Video Library + abundant TV channels, fully equipped kitchen and outdoor grilling area, firepit, paddle boats and kayaks. We traveled to visit an elderly relative who resides in the local area...we invited them over for a meal and their wheelchair easily had access to the main floor living room/kitchen/dining open floor plan. A good time was enjoyed by all as we shared memories, food and laughs! The teenagers and young adults absolutely LOVED the kayaks and paddle boats! They could have stayed on the water all weekend! The lake offers much to explore and the mid-October weather was beautiful! We also enjoyed time shopping/dining locally in Fox Lake, Beaver Dam and Columbus...and a creative craft/art session at the "Art On The Town" studio in Beaver Dam. After each day's activities out & about we enjoyed a good rest in the comfortable beds and were ready for the next adventure! ,,,inspired by all of the travel decor and collection of world globes in the home!

Cozy Lakefront Property

Excellent home to relax and enjoy the Beaver Dam community, Horicon and the lake. Amenities abound a tht home from games to appliances and the host went out of her way to accommodate!! Certainly recommend a get away trip or even a lengthy stay if your up to fishing and enjoying the area!

Relax

Great place to unwind. Town of Beaver Dam is very relaxed, property is spacious, and Kathy was great to work with. All our needs were met, and Kathy went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable.

Renter Beware-we were accused of stealing a paddle boat

Honest review. Kathy had to come in to measure floors upstairs during our stay. not sure why this was not done outside of our stay or why she didn't know the square footage of her home. Upstairs bathroom leaked into downstairs bathroom one day. I could not get ahold of Kathy via text or phone and she did not respond until 12:20am. Thankful it wasn't worse. We found 3 year old food left in the kitchen that I threw away: pancake mix and mayo that expired in 2021. We did enjoy using the kayaks, paddle board, and paddle boats as well as I brought my own kayak. We enjoyed fishing also. We only let the kids swim off one dock as the other one has a motor with exposed spinning blades on it and did not want the kids too close to this. Kathy asked me to leave a 5 star review and if there was any reason I couldn't. I told her I thought I could. That changed today. I had a phone call & text from Kathy on 7/25/24 in the morning asking me to call her ASAP. I asked what it was in regards to as I was working. She responded at 3am on 07/26 advising something had went missing but it was found. She had filed a claim but it would not affect me as I had taken insurance out. I rec'd an email today for theft of a paddle boat. Not sure why/how she thought I had taken this or how it was "misplaced" as she has cameras everywhere & we stacked them neatly. Seems sketchy & VRBO can't advise if claim was cancelled or not. Sounds like a way to pay for new flooring by filing a false claim.

SO well-equipped, Great hostess

There are some rentals where they give you barely enough (i.e. 3 towels, 12 knives, 4 spoons, and 1 fork) but that is NOT this rental. This rental seriously has MORE than ANYTHING you could need. We appreciated the abundance of towels/washcloths, eating utensils, outdoor seating, etc. The owner shares the duplex and should anything go wrong, I am confident she would make it right. She is a delightful person and wants to make sure your visit is more than you expect. She is very accommodating when plans change. And the VIEW! Loved looking out on the water and listening to all the birds. So relaxing, peaceful, and wonderful. Was a fantastic property to visit with our family, which was the whole point of our visit to WI. LOVED it all!

Early family gathering

We found this property to fit the needs of our family of adult children with adequate places to cook, gather and sleep. Contact with the host as well as some flexibility with our busy schedule were wonderfully done with Kathy. Thank you for hosting us!

Family kayaking

Lots of water toys and kayaks. We really enjoyed the lake. Owner went out and bought us firewood and made sure we had everything we needed.

Low Cleanliness Standards

My family would like just to forget this trip and move on, but I am writing this review because I wish someone had left a truthful review so that we had never gone there. Kathy told us in the private messages if we leave a bad review, she would trash us in her reply so other owners would not want to rent to us. We have date stamped pictures to support our complaints. When we arrived the place was filthy. We called, and when she arrived, Kathy insisted that the house was clean, she cleaned it herself, and had no idea where the hair and dirt came from. We weighed our options: turn around and go home; go to a hotel for the night, and give Kathy a chance to clean; clean it ourselves and ask for a partial refund. She offered to refund the cleaning fee (she didn’t), and go to hotel at our own expense. But we had no confidence that she would clean because she kept insisting that she cleaned and sanitized the house before we arrived. My whole family spent 3 hours cleaning, and it was disgusting. There was dust, dirt and debris on the floors, hair on the bathroom floor, the toilet bowl had residue of the previous residents stuck to the inside. The kitchen was equally disgusting. We made the best of a bad situation and managed to enjoy a few days of our only family vacation. Later Kathy accused us of stealing her kitchen tools, letting our dog pee on the towels, extorting money out of her, and having too high of a "pucker factor".

Water-lover's Delight

We loved being right on the water!! Lots of water toys to enjoy. Great views! Close enough to town to play pickleball. Lots of restaurants to choose from The host, Kathy was awesome to work with!! Very attentive with attention to detail. Super vacation!!!

Summer vacation

Family of 4. Great place had separate rooms for everyone. Kathy told us of places to shop in town. She has menus of restaurants she recommends some with coupons attached. Very clean and well stocked kitchen. It was very hot and humid the week we went. Didn’t take advantage of fire pit or kayaks.
