Gorgeous views

From the booking process to leaving when we checked out, everything was top notch. The hosts arranged our transportation, which was a huge help not knowing the area. We appreciated the cleanliness, unique furnishings and setup of our particular room. The landscaping and grounds at Tropical Hideaway were lush and impeccably maintained. 5 stars!

Our Bequia Adventure Made Perfect

There simply are not enough superlatives in the English language to adequately describe our experience at Tropical Hideaway & our time on Bequia. We had 9 absolutely glorious nights on Island with Tropical Hideaway as our home. From Julie's smile greeting us at the airport & Martin's (much appreciated after a long day of travel) arrival rum punch (best on Island, BTW), our experience just kept getting better and better. Throughout our arrival tour of the property, our "WOW's" kept getting bigger with every step and turn of a corner. As we entered the infinity pool area, I was truly rendered speechless. I have to admit the overwhelming beauty of TH & our view of Bequia got me quite misty eyed on more than one occasion. We chose the Infinity Studio for our stay, and we could not have been happier or more comfortable. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and had been immaculately cleaned (they have a wonderful staff for housekeeping, cooking and gardening). We fell asleep every night with the 2 screened sliding doors open to the sound of Mother Nature. We never needed the AC. The welcome pack of sundries and groceries included with our 9 night stay was incredibly generous. We both love to cook, and we ended up enjoying most of our meals prepared either ourselves with items purchased throughout the week from the TH on-site store or with the delicious, ready-made meals prepared on site at TH (our favorite was the fish curry & plantains). We ate each of these meals al fresco on our private patio. We learned to use a french press for our morning coffee. Martin & Julie have thought of EVERYTHING. One of my very favorites, besides the infinity pool, lush & tropical landscaping, rum punch and Hairoun, is the plethora of music they have on their server, which we listened to in our room every single day. I HIGHLY recommend that you make the time to have a group dinner with Martin & Julie and the other guests for sharing a great meal and fellowship and to hear some of their sailing adventures and their story of pouring their hearts and souls into Tropical Hideaway.

Paradise in Bequia

My husband and I had planned to vacation in St. John, USVI, in March 2018. However, after the island was the direct hit of 2 hurricanes in the fall of 2017, we started looking for an alternative destination. Having been to Bequia for a day about 15 years earlier while on a Windjammer cruise, we became intrigued with the idea of returning. The smallness and intimacy of the island held a definite allure. While researching lodging possibilities on Bequia, we found the website for Tropical Hideaway and looked no further! The property if fairly new and boasts a beautiful Infinity Pool overlooking Port Elizabeth. We stayed in the Infinity Suite, one of only 5 units currently on the property. The suite was large, comfortable, beautifully decorated and provided more storage than anywhere I have ever before stayed! Each unit has a kitchenette which we used to prepare a couple of breakfasts and dinners. The property has a store supplied with fresh foods, frozen entrees, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and other items to serve their guests. Our room was just steps away from the Infinity Pool and deck area. Needless to say we took advantage of the Infinity Pool with it's stunning view of the town and Admiralty Bay, the pool bar, deck and cabana areas. Tropical Hideaway is so lovely, quiet and relaxing that we chose to stay at the resort a couple of days to decompress and enjoy the tranquility. The hosts at Tropical Hideaway, Martin and Julie, do an excellent job of creating an atmosphere where guests get to know one another, watch the sunsets together from the Infinity Pool, and enjoy each other's company. A hike or taxi ride down to town or beaches gives an opportunity to appreciate the local culture and many fine restaurants and bars. Sailing, snorkeling and scuba trips are all available for those who are interested. The 7 square mile island of Bequia is clean, friendly, safe and a haven in the Eastern Caribbean! Tropical Hideaway must be one of the finest properties on the island with hosts Martin and Julie way ahead of the curve in providing everything necessary for a perfect get-away. We would love to return and spend more than a week next time!

Best I can imagine as idyllic

The property itself is beautiful. The studio we stayed in was large and ample. The pool unimaginably beautiful and the best for me, the covered gazebo full of large pillows and cushions to read your book or stare out at Admiralty Bay. Not any better than This!

Almost heaven

Incredible Setting and Villa

Like many have already stated, the Tropical Hideaway villa is an absolutely fantastic place to spend a vacation. Martin and Julie are extremely welcoming hosts & owners, that have put an enormous amount of thought into every detail throughout the villa. I am almost somewhat hesitant to write this review, as I want to keep it secret! As the location is somewhat remote, the villa features a well-stocked pantry with everything you could buy locally at a grocery store. This is incredibly convenient and the vacuum packed meals are of the same quality you can have made at a restaurant down in the bay. The views from the infinity pool are spectacular and one can easily get lost in observing the ships in the cove and watching the sunset every night. Overall, one of the best places my wife and I have stayed on vacation.

Amazing Find, Simply Stunning!

It is difficult to review a location that already has outstanding reviews, which are all totally correct! The only downside of staying at Tropical Hideaway, is you can spend too much time in and around the pool, and not explore the Island of Bequia and the beautiful (secluded) Beaches. The property is truly fabulous, and you can enjoy total privacy if you require. The hosts (Martin and Julie) are real professionals, and know how to provide an ideal holiday environment. I would like to return to this gem, but hopefully make the effort to spend more time exploring the Island!

My wife and I are constantly on the lookout for a new and exciting Caribbean destination offering amazing accommodations, picture post card beaches, wonderful snorkeling opportunities and convenient island amenities. Tropical Hideaway was a winner in every way! Read the many glowing reviews. Take the time to read one of the most comprehensive web sites ever and you will also conclude that TH is a can't miss destination. Hosts Martin and Julie have thought of EVERYTHING in the design, construction and operation of this incredible villa with 5 accommodation options to choose from. We stayed in the Infinity Studio and were blown away by the quality and uniqueness of this spacious "room". From the bed to the bathroom, to the kitchen facilities and the amazing views, WOW will be the main word used to describe your initial impressions. To Infinity ( & Beyond)

We have just returned from TH having spent just over 2 weeks there in February. This is our 5th return visit to this fabulous property and our 5th return visit to the infinity room. Its become to us more than just a holiday rental now, its just like a home away from home , largely in part to the absolutely fantastic hospitality of Martin & Julie who go the extra mile in making sure all their guests are having the best time possible. The Infinity room itself is a very spacious, well appointed room, very airy and cool in the heat of the day ( we didn’t even need to use the A/C) . A very large Bed with quality linens made for a very comfortable nights sleep. The cooking facilities are basic but sufficiently Adequate and suited our needs as we prefer to eat out on vacation more often than cooking in. The Bathroom is light , spacious with coral stone floor/wall tiles giving a very Caribbean feel with quality fitting throughout. The house has a fabulous charcoal barbeque area which is freely available for all house guests to use . You may have read on other reviews about how fabulous the pool area, the views across the bay or how the hosts provide a 1st class provisioning service but seeing is really believing. Its fair to say that it takes a little effort to get to bequia , whether you fly direct via Barbados or go via St Vincent then get the ferry, but all this extra effort is rewarded in a total relaxation vacation . How many of us can say we have holidayed on an island with no traffic lights, no roundabouts and no stress. Bequia has the lot, and TH is the idyll that makes it memorable and thats why TH has so many repeat bookings. Martin & Julie are clearly doing something right. Suggest you try it out , we are planning our return already, we would be fools not to.

We recently returned from a two week stay at Tropical Hideaway staying in the Infinity Studio. What an absolutely superb location with wonderful hosts in Martin and Julie. Bequia is such a wonderful Caribbean island and remains unspoilt with great charm and warm friendly people. We always felt safe where ever we travelled, either on foot or by car. T.H is everything and more that has already been written in previous reviews. Attention to detail is second to none while the intimate setting offers wonderful privacy if guest so wish or can mingle with other guests (usually around the incredible infinity pool) in this 5 accommodation facility. We stayed in the Infinity Studio tucked away only a few steps from the pool area which was wonderful as my wife and I could swim any time day or night. The accommodations are well furnished and the staff really goes out of their way to keep the facility impeccably clean and tidy. We rarely need to use the air conditioner as there was nearly always a cooling breeze which was most welcome when sleeping. If you’re looking to get away from the "all inclusive" resorts this for us was a fabulous way to go. We shall be going back for sure, Thanks Martin and Julie for helping make our vacation undoubtedly one of our best ever!!

Tropical hideaway is a gem on a beautiful Island.

The moment we arrived we were impressed by the presentation of the property, the location and the outstanding facilities. I am generally hard to please and all the apartments were superb. Amazing place!!! Amazing view!!!

English review: Since we arrived at port of Elizabeth, Julie picked us up and transfer to the infinity Studio. From that point we knew we had contacted some great people. Once we got to the Infinity Studio, the service staff greeted us in a very friendly, then we meet Martin who welcomed us to infinity studio; while Julie gave us welcome cocktails. Martin took care to explain everything about what was offered (they have all the information necessary, well documented and with all provisions of the case), then we went to the pool area, one of the most grandiose infinity pools we've been, where you can see one of the best sunsets in the Caribbean Sea and a wonderful night lighting and pool bar (the pool is heated at night). The grille and exterior of the studio are built in perfect harmony with the nature of Bequia. The location of the Studio allows easily walk to the beaches of Friendship bay and lower bay beach and even to the same port (the walk is very enjoyable in the evening). Every time we needed something we had always the advice and help of Julie & Martin. Even Julie could organize us a full day tour to Tobago Cays, making all necessary contact and coordinations with Mako Tours, we spend such a great moment there. Our general conclusions are: If you want to relax with everything you need and more in a real paradise, you should stay at Tropical Hideaway, you will find the tranquility of nature caribbean, great views, good food, beautiful beaches, and the most important: wonderful people!!!

We will definitely come back!

This was the holiday of our life! I think every review so far mentioned the view and the pool, therefore I want to focus on less obvious things: Martin and Julie are the most perfect hosts you can imagine, they even organized a beach barbeque for their guests. Although the Tropical Hideaway is located on a quite steep hill you don’t have to carry anything up there because Martin and Julie provide almost everything you need (food, drinks ). If you don’t like the exercise of walking, taxis are available everywhere anytime. There is a barbeque area and Martin has a big fridge with meat and fish of any type for very reasonable prices. I will never forget the sunsets we were watching together in the pool, the people we met there, and wonderful Infinity pool, watching the hummingbirds while having breakfast. I would give 10 stars if Tripadvisor would allow and I am sure that almost no 6 star hotel in the world could provide a more perfect experience. Relaxation - Priority Number 1

All I can say is unbelievable. The island is great, small, native, and beautiful. Martin, Julie, and Corrie were the best hosts. Whatever you need, it was taken care of. The room (Infinity) was awesome. The stone bathtub in the main room and the history behind it make the experience only to be topped by the day bed next to the pool. All I can say is unbelievable. The island is great, small, native, and beautiful. Martin, Julie, and Corrie were the best hosts. Whatever you need, it was taken care of. The room (Infinity) was awesome. The stone bathtub in the main room and the history behind it make the experience only to be topped by the day bed next to the pool. Nothing like waking up in the morning to look out over the bay and see a rainbow just past the ships. We will be back and we recommend you go as well!

You can live the dream

In life to obtain the impossible means that you have to push yourself beyond the norm. This also applies to Bequia as it takes a bit of effort to get there but once you do then you soon realise why you did. Add to this the excitement of staying at Tropical Hideaway you will soon question why it took you so long. This property is absolutely stunning and every element of the time spent there is a joy. Whilst the property can accommodate 10 or more people,it never feels like you are encroaching on other people as all the rooms are secluded and private,each with their own fabulous,uninterrupted views the the azure Caribbean sea. We have been lucky enough to have stayed at TH on 4 occasions and we opt for the Infinity Room as we like the proximity to the pool area and whilst the other rooms offer more cooking facilities we prefer to go out of an evening to try out the various restaurants in and around admiralty bay. The Infinity Room is a very spacious room offering a beautiful bathroom and chill out area , basic cooking facilities including hob ,microwave,fridge etc and plenty of utensils. The welcome pack of provisions which are in the room on your arrival are perfect for starting you off and the Owners offer a complete provisioning service should you wish to take that up,anything from fresh fish to rum! There is also the excellent media services incl wifi along with a bath tub that could accommodate a giant and very comfortable bed. What more do you need ? Oh, forgot to mention the pool ,which is bigger than many hotels we have stayed and is the prelude to the most amazing views of the harbour below. Martin and Julie (the owners)have thought about every minute detail on what people need to relax ,whether it be a rum punch, a downloaded movie or a reservation at a restaurant or organising a trip ,nothing is too trivial but each is very personal and makes you value the service. Bequia itself is a charming ,uncomplicated island where all you really need to decide is what you want to eat .the beaches are wonderful,safe and almost always empty and the main town is completely accessible by the coastal pathway ,unlike other islands where hotels have taken the access to the beach away from main roads. Oh,on Bequia there are no traffic lights nor roundabouts so getting round the island is very relaxed . The pace of life on the island is a lot slower than other islands but that adds to the charm ,after all your on holiday ! For us TH is the perfect vacation.

Das Tropical Hideaway schwebt über einer der schönsten Buchten der Karibik. Martin und Julie haben sich hier einen Lebesntraum erfüllt und teilen diesen mit ihren Gästen. Das Infinity Studio ist perfekt ausgerüstet, Küche, W-Lan, eine riesige Badewanne aus einem einzigen Stein gehauen, eine riesige Filmbibliotheke (die wir allerdings nie benutzten, da die beste Filmsammlung keine Chance gegen das Panorama hat, welches sich draussen bietet), usw. Einer der Höhepunkte ist der Infinity Pool, ein herrlicher Blick auf die Kreuzfahrtschiffe die hier im Sonnenuntergang vor Anker liegen, unvergesslicher Ausblick. Der perfekte Platz um so richtig die Seele baumeln zu lassen.

Now what

Well, after spending just a few minutes with our mouths hanging open from taking in the incredible Infinity Room, we ventured out to the pool area. I can't really describe it other than to say we were speechless - except for the quiet "Wow" uttered here and there. We sat looking out at the harbor and I said to my husband and the few guests at the pool, "Now what? No place else will ever measure up to this! We are ruined for anything else!" The Infinity Room is delightful! One of the most jaw-dropping features is the very large, carved stone tub in the room. We planned to treat ourselves to a soak but never got around to it. Water is precious on Bequia and there was an indescribable infinity pool just outside the door, so it seemed crazy not to hang out in the pool, mindlessly staring at the horizon - tempting though, I must say! Marty, Julie and Corrie-Anne are what really make Tropical Hideaway special. Their love for this property and the island of Bequia stands out in every little detail. The longer we stayed, the more little things we noticed that all added up to explaining the magic of this place. We count ourselves as very lucky to have stayed here but luckier yet to have crossed paths with this amazing and very delightful family!

Fantastic - you can't beat this!

Tropical Hideaway's Infiinty room just took our breath away. If you thought the photos looked good on the website (which they do) they cannot prepare you for the size and "wow" factor of this room. We loved our time there and the only problem we have now is that anywhere else we stay will be compared with this amazing place and come a poor second Martin and Julie are great hosts and have done an amazing job in creating the really special place of Tropical Hideaway. It felt like a real privelege to be staying there. We enjoyed meeting up with other guests around the pool to watch the sunset and swap stories of the day - not to mention the odd rum punch or two which Martin & Julie generously produced (thank you!) Bequia is a beautiful island with so much to see - make sure you have long enough there to properly enjoy it - and you will want to spend lots of time relaxing at Tropical Hideaway as well - it is hard to leave! We can't wait to go back
