Nice and quiet getaway. Friendly staff and close to
This property is perfect for a long weekend. Has a wood burning fireplace and BBQ. Check-in was super easy and the staff was super nice. Check-out was just as easy. The grounds were kept clean. There is a gas firepit and horseshoes to enjoy and walking distance to Boulder Bay. Definitely will be staying here again.
Very spacious! Felt like my family was at real home!

Fun stay for a larger group. Not much to do on the property outside the cabin's Parks and attractions not far, away. Exiting the property can take some patience cars do pass by fairly quickly.
Stayed here with the kids and grand babies for the weekend. It was our daughters Bday. First time here. We like the place. They had many cabins to choose from, and the property was pretty clean. We did have an issue with our toilet not working, and with 6 of us including 2 grand babies, it was important. Management did what they could, but unfortunately had to move us to a different cabin the next day. This was not their fault, and they did what they could for us. It did not ruin our time, and management made up for it on our next visit, which we will definitely come here again. Close enough to town, clean and reasonable, with some rustic cabins
The Grey Squirrel was the perfect place for us. Far enough from the village to be quiet and calm but close enough to grab any supplies we had forgotten. The property is big and the snow fall was beautiful.

It's a decent place to stay if you are wanting a cozy cabin vibe. The property should stock more cooking implements though, and pots and pans and utensils. The kitchen is in need of a good deep cleaning. The beds are creaky. We like the layout for the 2 bedroom unit. If you have little kids that like to jump around inside the rooms and living areas, this is a good option. You don't have to worry about disturbing neighbors. Have not tried the pool. Overall, not fancy but great affordable option if you plan to be mostly out on the town or ski slopes, and not holed up inside a cabin for your Big Bear vacation.
It was an ok stay. Bared minimum: plates, cups, glasses and utensils for 2, handwash everyday. Warm temp experienced at 91 degrees, no fans. Booked and paid for 3 nights, took off and went home after 2. Please ask this property to clearly post their pet friendly policy with FEES. Credit card was charged $303 upon check in. Overall it was nice coming up to the mountain and see the lake is filled up again after the rain we had.

Fires & Vacuums & no hot water and no refind
The trip started out fine, but on the first night of three nights, the fire alarms went off and learned that there was a fire in a unoccupied hotel room on the third floor, which flooded most of the hotel after the fire department showed up. They proceeded to use water vacuums to suck up the water and yell at each other at 2 AM to about 4 AM that same evening the next morning we woke up to no hot water which they said should be fixed by the afternoon at 4 PM, there was no hot water and they told us there would be no hot water for the next 10 days and to go get a hotel somewhere else or deal with cold water we asked for a refund for the first night stay and have been fighting with them ever since to get a refund so although the hotel was in a great location, the trip and the customer service or a complete and utter disaster
Stayed here for a girls weekend with my teenage daughter. We had a great time. The cabin was very clean upon arrival, including the bathroom and kitchen. They have cute twinkly lights strung outside. The resort is very close to the Big Bear Village and both ski resorts (Snow Summit and Bear Mountain). We brought our small dog with us which worked out fine. The cabin provided silverware, coffee mugs and dishes for two people. There was one tiny pot which we used to heat a can of soup but bring your own cookware if you plan on making larger meals. There was no toaster so we will bring our own next time.
The front desk person I spoke with on the phone was super nice and helped me with selecting the right cabin for us. The cabin also has wifi, a tv with lots of channels including Hallmark which we liked, and an excellent wall heater which heats basically the whole cabin except for the bathroom. The water was hot which was nice after skiing! We enjoyed our mother-daughter ski weekend and will definitely be back. Each cabin has a parking spot right out front. We had no noise issues during our stay. The only thing that could be improved upon would be better towels. They felt kind of damp when we got there like they weren't dried all the way and they were not very absorbent regardless. I recommend bringing your own towels if that is important to you. Other than that, we thought Grey Squirrel was wonderful and we will definitely be back soon. I rate it a 9/10 overall!
Bathroom so old and super small, the shower either too hot or too cold and it's so hard to adjust the temperature. The bathtub is super old and dirty. We had horibble experience in this place.
