The Pros and Cons of this house:
The location of this house is awesome! The view of the river is stunning! The house has plenty of room for large families. The outdoor porch area with the fireplace is amazing!
Both bathrooms on the main floor have a black mold issue that is bad. The master bathroom is very dark. The steps from the driveway to the door have very poor lighting or none. The house was very dusty and in serious need of deep cleaning, there are several areas in the house where dust is obvious. The living room furniture is very dated. The overall lighting in the house is very poor.
I have pictures of the house and would be happy to share the areas of concern.
With a little bit of TLC and effort this could be a VERY NICE property.
Great cabin to stay! The trek to the river was extremely steep and the fishing was difficult due to the rocks. The flies outside on the deck was a huge problem. Overall we had a great time.
We loved everything about this home and the location. It’s a perfect drive between Blue Ridge & McCaysville, for hiking and dining. We spent one full day lazying around, using the hot tub, pool table and eating s’mores by the fire. There are plenty of extras such as kitchen gear, blankets, pillows, fire supplies and games. It was perfect for our two families (4 children had a ball!). The cleaning crew & management company communicated well. We hope to come back!
Everything we wanted in a Blue Ridge retreat. Great cabin, perfect location, the creek was gorgeous, and everyone had a blast. The Christmas tree by the fireplace and holiday décor was a lovely surprise. Comfy beds, too! I give this cabin a 12 out of 10! We'll definitely be back! If I had any suggestion, it would be that the cabin seemed a little short on silverware for the number of people it sleeps. Nothing that we couldn't easier take care of but also an easy fix for you guys. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
We had a lovely time at rock n river retreat. We most loved the deck outside and the proximity of the cabin to town. We were very thankful for the unexpected delivery of a huge stack of new, dry firewood. We sat outside and enjoyed many fires in the outdoor fireplace. The cabin was well stocked and we had everything we needed and then some. I would say the only downfall that we weren’t expecting was how steep the climb is from the cabin down to the creek. We had older adults with us and young children, none of whom were able to make it down there. It was actually quite dangerous trying to take the kids down so we mostly stayed away from the creek. But I suppose the steep climb allows for the great view. And it is a unique, beautiful view. Thank you for sharing your retreat with us!
WORST CABIN STAY EVER, AND THIS TRIP WAS FOR MY 89 YO MOM
No instructions to change door code. Had $1000 stolen. Entire cabin is dark. Dark floors, dark walls, not enough light. Took my 89 yo Mom w us and of course her BR had no TV as promised. All of the floor rugs were curled up and I was so afraid my Mom would have a fall. We had to put things on top of the rugs. None of the drawers had drawer guides and at least two of the kitchen drawers would not open and close (silverware drawers). Coffee pot leaked all over the counter every time we tried to make coffee. Mixer provided with one beater. Ironing board provided but no iron. Only one thermostat for the entire upstairs and downstairs. Sheets were not on the guest bed. TV downstairs would only play DVDs, no satellite. Grease dripping out of the grill onto the floor and then down to the lower level onto the swing below. Pool table pockets detached so balls roll on the floor. Not enough room for pool shoot. Sticks hit the wall. No access to creek as advertised, unless you are a rock climber. Spend another $50 a night and use another provider besides VRBO. Nothing was checked before our arrival and it was very obvious.
We enjoyed staying here. Very quiet, lots of bird watching. The outside fireplace was great on early mornings. The walk down to the creek is a steep one but worth it! I would recommend bringing tubes with you to float the creek. We walked it and its beautiful!
