Natural Beauty

This is an impressive log home on a secluded stretch of Lake Huron beach. We saw bald eagles every day along with a sweeping view of the lake. It is definitely a great place for a relaxing getaway.

Amazing Stay

I cannot say enough great things about this property. The house itself was very spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. It had everything you could need in terms of cooking and cleaning supplies. Everything was in perfect condition. The property was unbelievable. We spent time relaxing on the porch, watching wildlife including bald eagles every morning, we enjoyed relaxing, kayaking, and fishing. In the evenings, we enjoyed a bonfire and stargazing. It’s quiet and great location close to the ferry dock as well as to the restaurant or general store if you wanted to visit those places. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

I had an amazing stay at the Lake Effect Lodge. The cabin was spotless, well-stocked, and thoughtfully prepared—it had everything I needed and then some. The setting was peaceful and secluded, the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. Bois Blanc Island itself is a hidden gem, full of natural beauty, quiet charm, and scenic trails. Robert was a great host—communicative, welcoming, and clearly cares about his guests’ experience. Two nights weren’t enough, and I’m already planning a return trip. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a relaxing escape into nature.

Great Location!

We loved the location, the Gull island right across from the house. Lots of wildlife to see. The property could use some minor upgrades on pans and towels, but everything has been great otherwise!

Awesome vacation stay

Lots of room for family to have their own space and/or bedroom. Porch with swing and such a beautiful view!!! Would stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

A little slice of heaven!

The location of this property is bliss. Nothing but relaxation watching the eagles, ferry and freighters pass by. Got to watch the osprey fish every and and the eagle chase it out of it's territory. Mornings spent on the porch are a special start to each day. A short walk along the beach takes you to a sand bar where the swimming is spectacular. Nice sandy beach with shallow water perfect for kids of all ages. Take a chair, sit or lay in the water and work on your tan. The house had everything you think of from linens, towels, soaps, and food staples. All the pots and pans needed to create a simple or gourmet meal are provided. The owner graciously allows garbage to go to the transfer station which other renters do not allow. Also, pop cans may be left. This was great! We didn't have to plan space for transporting trash & bottles off the island like in past years. Would definitely stay again! The owner was a pleasure to work with. Ready to plan next year's trip!

This property was beautiful. Fantastic log cabin with amazing views! Spent the entire week truly relaxing in this amazing cabin. Absolutely would recommend and we will be back!

Beautiful house and setting.

Our whole group (ages 5-61) enjoyed being at BBI Lake Effect Lodge. Beautiful, spacious, log home in a stunning location. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and water along the sand bar. Great fishing off the dock. Nice lakeside fire pit and plenty of seating available. 100% recommend.

Superb Cabin

A very nice getaway cabin. Quiet. Relaxing. Nicely accessorized. Great view and lake access. Beautiful property and the cabin is comfortable and very outdoor oriented. Liked the lsland in total. Friendly folks. The Outpost general store and restaurant was a nice place with great pizza.

Perfect getaway!

This was our 6th girls only island getaway and it was perfect. Mr. Cochran has everything you could need in the kitchen, bedroom, cleaning supplies, games, working wifi….. It was so well equipped that I took notes as host for our own rental. The 6 of us highly recommend this cottage.

Family Vacation

I stayed at this property with my almost 2 year old daughter, teenage stepsons, husband, sister-in-law and mother-in-law. The property was beautiful! We loved that the water was mostly shallow so we didn't have to worry too much about our 2 year old getting into water over her head. BBI is a really fun island to explore. The highlight for the boys was the ATV rental day-- Robert provided contact information for ATV rentals and some other activities, which was a really nice touch. We can't wait to come back!

The property is in a great location, close to the ferry and the tavern. The water was nice and there were sand bars all around to walk out onto from the property. The locals are all very friendly and helpful. There was no power at the bunkhouse, so no lights or AC, so we hope that will be fixed before our next visit. Overall, a great relaxing place to unwind!

Relaxing Stay on Bob-lo

The Lodge was a terrific place for a long family weekend. We found the property to be very roomy for 3 couples plus a dog. The front porch facing Lake Huron - with a porch swing, chairs, and picnic table - was one of our favorite spots. We found the Gas Grill clean and ready to go and used several times during our stay. The firepit came with a stack of dry wood which we really appreciated! We brought our kayaks and were very happy to launch from the beach for an easy paddle. This was the first time to BBI for most of us (my daughter had been once before), and we loved the slower, quieter pace of the Island. The Lodge was a great accommodation for our time there.
