Thankful Thanksgiving Away!

Almost good enough...

OK property in nice location but 3 negatives: 1. on arrival the home had been closed up and the interior temp was in the 80's. Not enough fans or AC so the first night was a little rough. 2. the home is 30 yards from the main highway up to Beech Mountain which means heavy truck traffic and noise when you open the windows for air circulation. 3. we were charged a large cleaning fee but the property really needs a deep cleaning. Too much dust, cobwebs and rough edges throughout. The property has a wonderful deck with tremendous views.

The cabin itself was nice and the location to skiing was great. The cabin could not support the amenities it provided. Electrical issues our whole stay and ended up having to throw out our perishable items because the refrigerator didn’t work the first night. I would provide further instructions on how to use the eat in the basement. Luckily it was not too cold while we were there.

Even with 2 toddlers and 4 additional children, I am certain we left this place cleaner then when we arrived. We were missing a trundle bed. We had 0 drinking glasses. We had a set of 8 silverware and 8 plates. This does not work for a cabin that advertises it holds 12 people. Dishes were brought 36 hours after check in. The trundle bed request was ignored. There were no directions for heat in the downstairs (it was 28 degrees at our arrival, the downstairs was probably 55 degrees). We were given directions later, but the heater is not childproofed... and its in the space that is set up for the kids. One garage door didn't work. The deck was covered in ashes from the previous renters fire outside. The fireplace inside did not work. And more so it was just disconnected and didn't have propane so that it couldn't be used by guests...but the house specifically states fireplace. We were given a credit instead. Based on the response to the fireplace request, I am pretty certain if you want to stay here, it still will be "out of order". And the most problematic, the entire house was SOOOO dusty. Dust balls underneath everything. The floor had not been cleaned (spilled drinks or food) upon our arrival. There were not enough places for 12 people to eat. The barstools might have counted, except they were broken.

Londonos paradise review

The house was dated and in need of updating. Fireplace was broken and nonfunctional, hot tub was filthy. Maintenance did come out and tried to fix fireplace but it didn't last. He also "cleaned " the hot tub, 4 adults used it once and it was not usable again. I contacted management company they wanted to charge me for another service to hot tub. They never showed up to fix the fireplace. They did give me a credit and apology for the fireplace. It was a great location and we had lots of fun playing in the snow, very convenient to skiing.

Wonderful view! We all had a wonderful time!

Celebrated two of my teens birthdays. Their friends came to hang out and we all tried Ski Sugar. Everyone is ready to go back…so overall a big success. Plenty of space at the house and again, fabulous views!

What a wonderful setting. The views and outdoor spaces are amazing

We loved the main living space, outdoor areas and the VIEW!! So gorgeous and relaxing. The house could have been cleaner and the bedrooms and rec room left a little to be desired in terms of furniture/decor. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

This property was the setting for our daughter's rehearsal dinner before her wedding at The Overlook Barn. We were very pleased with our accommodations. We had plenty of room for family and friends. Such a peaceful area with beautiful amenities.

Attention to details and addressing our questions and concerns was excellent from Carolina Cabins. Also all the pre-trip information and follow up by phone and email was easy to understand.We found the actual property to be sufficient for our family and the mountain view was incredible .The main thing we were disappointed with was that the lower level was not connected to the central heating system and there was not any mention of that in the listing. The service man that cam out and got the gas space heater working the next day. He also delivered propane and he was very polite.I also would caution anyone when entering the driveway because not only is a grade drop but also the material is deteriorating badly making it difficult to get off the busy road. All and all, with the view, the nice outdoor deck space, open floor plan on main level it was a good experience. We would definitely use Carolina cabins in the future for their excellent customer service.We would not rent this property however .

You asked for feedback, and this is it, but I start with recognizing a different standard might be in play here..... We own and run an airbnb, for which the market rates don't facilitate a management company nor external cleaning staff. I know how hard we work for the highest possible ratings. - we supply individualized bathroom products for the number of guests multiplied for the length of stay. - we provide sufficient bathroom tissue per the above formula. You supply one per bathroom - we provide kitchen roll per the above formula. You supply one - we provide dishwasher tablets in bulk. One tablet was left (not even the two you advertize) - the microwave was non-functioning - at least one floor lamp did not work - bulbs were out - we could not get the ignition on the deck burner to function (we chose not to report/inquire this) - the website photos do not accurately depict the more degenerated condition of the property - it was unbearably hot and a decision to not have AC renders the nightly rate unjustifiable - given the value of the charge for cleaning, my wife and our other adult guests were each offended by the cleaning staff placing a tip envelope on the kitchen counter - the hot tub jets are weak - substandard cleaning to the basement (we'll ignore the musty smell for which a dehumidifier is provided) Generally, given the gross cost of the rental, I would expect to not to have to call out any of the above. As I said, the kitchen and personal items might be to a different standard, which you pre-warn, but having non-functioning equipment is negligent. I assume the owners rely on the management company for marketing and functional standards within their management fees. In short I am reasonable in expecting better. The one positive I will call out is the acceptable lapse in time from complaint about the microwave not functioning to a loan microwave being provided

Had a great time and everything was ready when we arrived. The kids enjoyed the sleds provided in garage. I would recommend this rental to any medium large group and it is very close to Beech Mountain Resort.

The house was exactly what we needed for two families. Totally equipped to fit our needs for cooking in with four adults and five kids. The bedrooms had plenty of space for everyone and the living areas were top notch. The view was amazing. We would definitely come back to this house.

Great location for skiing, needs deep clean

The proximity to Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain was fantastic and the view from the house is beautiful. We were very disappointed to find the hot tub not usable, as that was one of the reasons we picked the house. There was a gross brown scum on the water's edge. There were no cables to use the DVD player. The basement bedroom didn't have working heat and was freezing. Needed overall deep clean, ceiling fans, mantle, and end tables very dusty. Dead bugs in light over the stove. Dryer display turned on, but cycle would never start. We had to dry socks and mittens after playing in the snow on the fireplace. Nail coming up from floor tore hole in socks. We had to hammer it down. There were plenty of beds. We weren't confident that the queen bed's sheets were changed out prior to arrival. The sliding glass door for the shower is very rickety and felt like it was going to fall off. If these issues are addressed, the house would be a wonderful place to stay. You can't beat the short drive to Sugar Mountain, and to the free Beech Mountain sledding hill.
