A totally authentic Montana sweet retreat in a convenient location
Tucked into the woods at the end of the road just 13 minutes from the heart of town, this cabin is a treasure. Cliff built the place himself; each tree sawn on his tractor-powered sawmill. We added family antiques, new mattresses and original art (lotsa comfort and love). The covered porch is high in the trees with breathtaking views 1000 feet above the Yellowstone River. A stellar location, you will be hard-pressed to find a more memorable authentic cabin experience during your Montana travels.
Cliff was the stuff of legend; a barrel chested mountain man with a heart of gold and a zen-like deep-souled connection to nature. The cabin has power, running water, bath, shower and a full kitchen. The loft has a king size power adjustable bed and the "Powder Room" has a full size bed. Both beds are topped with hand stitched comforters and cozy linens.
The secluded cabin was built onto the side of a mountain above town. You can watch squirrels scamper on the ground outside the bathroom window yet the living room and porch at the front of the cabin sit high off the ground in the trees. Through the tree tops, sky surrounds a view of the Yellowstone River below and the Crazy Mountains beyond. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular from this nest of a home in the trees. The thirty foot porch has a BBQ grill, a dining area and a lounge area complete with a fire pit to cozy around while looking at an endlessly star-filled "Big Sky Country" sky (especially delightful as we do not have the distraction of light pollution). Nights are considerably cooler up here in the forest 1000 feet above Livingston, a welcome respite during the warmer summer months. Cliff's cabin is in it's own neck of the woods, easy to access and private. You will find plenty of forest and a few trails to explore. A big horned owl and its mate have been hanging around Cliff’s cabin - you may hear them hoot at night and in the mornings. Although we live on the property, you will not see our home. We enjoy people but we do not want to disturb the beauty of quietude which Cliff's cabin offers our guests. Simply let us know the level of interaction you desire. You may check-in on your own. We are accessible by phone and will let you know if we are out-of-town at the time of your booking. You will be able to see my art studio on your way to Cliff's cabin (ask us if you would like a studio tour). We are happy to answer questions and meet your needs. Let us know how we can make your stay dreamier.

Stayed here for our daughter’s college graduation. It was nice to stay out in Livingston away from the hustle and bustle of Bozeman. Adult kids loved making s’mores out on the deck. Great quiet location!
The cabin is very nice and was very clean. Pretty much as was advertised. Yellowstone Hot Springs is close by and worthwhile. Raymond is also s great guide for a hike on the property.
We had a lovely time. Cabin is remote yet close to restaurants and shopping. The owners have taken great care to make you feel comfortable. Lofts of nice touches to make you feel at home. Great hosts. Was very clean.
Beautiful location, close to Livingston, this cabin is a gem. It is authentic in every way with a homey feel and comfortable furniture to relax in. It's beautifully decorated with knick knacks and you can enjoy a nice hot shower every morning! The outside porch boasts a fantastic view and a great place to just chill and watch nature.
Our stay at Cliff’s Cabin was amazing! Our host was so incredibly helpful and friendly.. he was truly a blessing! The cabin itself was spotless and in excellent condition.. it is also in the most beautiful location… tucked away in the woods. We loved it so much that we are flying back to Montana to stay at Cliff’s Cabin again in the fall. We will probably be there twice a year, every year from now on!
Unfortunately, we were only able to stay 1 night in this beautiful cabin. I do not have words to describe the unique craftsmanship. The check-in and check-out process was very smooth. We cant wait for a return stay.
Cliff's cabin was quaint and the decor was amazing to look at and we all had fun finding all of the little animals. The tour of the studio was a great bonus that we all thoroughly enjoyed. It had a very nice kitchen that had everything we needed to cook meals for ourselves. Additionally, they were not your run-of-the-mill utensils and pans, but were actually of good enough quality to get the job done. It was a super nice stay and it was easy to find and get to from town. We checked in and then went to the Livingston Rodeo, then came back after the fireworks for a good rest. The beds were very comfortable.
Our only regret is that we actually didn't get to meet Amber Jean, the famous artist. Maybe next time. We will be back.
As we have traveled over the years, I have wondered what it would be like to stay in one of those cabins you occasionally see peeking out on the hillside. By graciously sharing their cabin, Amber and Raymond allowed me to get the chance to find out!!! Cliff’s Cabin is the real deal, and I enjoyed the details down to the kitchen cabinets. Amber and Raymond provided those little extras like S’mores fixings and hot chocolate mix that made us feel even more at home. They were great about being available to answer questions and give advice but were never intrusive. We didn’t get to meet them because we were there a brief time, but staying there was the highlight of our 40th wedding anniversary driving trip of a couple thousand miles!
The cabin was just lovely, very authentic with updated utilities. We loved that there was a wood stove and enjoyed a nice fire on the night it was cooler Kitchen was well stocked with everything one would need. The owners provided plenty of drinking water. We are an older couple and one of us has a moderate mobility problem, so it was a challenge to get to the stairs and then up about 8 steps into the cabin. Once inside, if you wanted the larger bed, the stair case to the loft only had a handrail I’m on the right side, leaving the stairs fully open on the left (going up). However, for most folks (except little children) this would not
Present a problem. The cabin is on a long gravel road, so going quickly to the market is a bit of time spent. Located close to Livingston downtown (less than 10 miles). This is a wonderful spot for enjoying family, quiet, hiking and the deer!

My wife and i stayed at Cliffs Cottage (this property) for one week, July 1 to July 8 2023.
We had high expectations based on the listing and some communications we had with the owners prior to arrival.
We can tell you that this experience EXCEEDED our expectations on every level. The property is an absolute gem, tucked away high above Livingston MT, in a secluded wooded area. The surrounding woods are spectacular; peaceful, quiet and just beautiful. We had a mule deer yearling visit us a few times to top it off!
We have stayed in a variety of properties on vacations over the years and we have NEVER been so happy. To top it off, the hosts are the very best! They welcomed us on arrival and answered every question we had. The tour of Amber Jean studio just around the corner was a highlight of our stay.
Just a first rate time, start to finish. We will be back; that is a promise. We can recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway in the Montana mountains
Lovely stay while attending a wedding in the Valley. Very remote feeling location, but not too far away from Livingston which is a very charming Montana town.
Place is great you cant ask for more really for a mountain cabin retreat. Owners were super helpful with regarsd to getting there and general info and the place is stacked out with everything you need to cook, drink and sleep. Super cool place we loved it
Inviting and intriguing with warm art on the walls, surprises in seemingly every nook and cranny, and superbly crafted woodwork and detail throughout the cabin. We only stayed one night but felt the cozy, thoughtful embrace of the cabin every moment of our visit. We enjoyed the quiet solitude.
