Waste of time and money

Love Jekyll Island for its beauty. This review is about the rental. It is small but okay for 2 adults and dogs. The kitchen area was - nicely stocked with cookware, dishes,etc. The condo is dark, dank and has the worst furniture and bathroom. The sofa, chair and drapes are straight out of Grandma’s basement. Too low for adults to sit comfortably-same with table and chairs. The bathroom is unsuitable for adults-vanity,sink,toilet all outdated and too low. Shower outdated and uncomfortable. Bed is okay, linens clean and some of the decorative are really cute. No view from the patio-just shrub and brush. Two bad, because this place has such potential.

Not Quiet As Advertised:

The property was listed as beachfront and the sliding door that opened toward the beach was indeed only 50-yards from the high tide mark. However, rip-rap extended for the length of the beach at the Villas by the Seas property. At high-tide, there was no sand on the beach and the ocean waves crashed well up on the rip rap. Signs posted by the property manager warned: No beach at high tide. Beware dangerous currents. In addition, to get to the beach one had to walk out and extended ramp to a set of stairs with eight steps to descent to a sand walkway located just above the rip-rap on the shoreline. One crossed the sand walkway , ascended a second set of stairs with eight steps, crossed over the rip-rap on an elevated deck, and then descend a third stairway with 23-steps. This isn't what we consider beachfront especially for someone with mobility limitations such as my wife and dog. Secondly, the complex is currently under stabilization and reconstruction due to structural failures. A construction crew is actively working on the property to remove exterior cladding, replace defective wood and steel beams, and install new roofing, siding, doors and windows. It's an active construction site with trucks, crews, equipment and material deliveries. There was no mention of this in any of the literature or advertising. We will be very cautious about VRBO in the future.

Great Location

Cute condo, perfect for a couple. Floor was dirty, my feet were black after walking around for just a little while. Otherwise, everything was clean and in good condition. Location was great, walking distance to Driftwood Beach.
