Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar Lodge, Lake Tahoe
6/10 Okay
"We stayed in a 2-bedroom unit on the second floor. While the location is great, our experience was significantly impacted by persistent noise from the unit above. Throughout the day and continuing until around 10pm each night for everyday, there was constant loud running and jumping from children upstairs, creating repeated thumping sounds that were hard to ignore. It made it difficult to relax, especially in the evenings when we were trying to wind down. For a property at this price point and brand standard, better sound insulation or clearer quiet-hour enforcement would be expected.
Another surprising aspect was the checkout guidelines related to housekeeping. Guests were asked to run the dishwasher, take out the trash, and gather linens. While the message mentioned these were optional, it is quite unusual to see this kind of expectation at a Hyatt property. In our case, there was a large amount of trash with no practical way to dispose of it, as the bins downstairs were too small and assistance was not clearly provided.
While it was stated that these steps were optional, sending such instructions to guests does create an expectation that they should be followed. This felt inconsistent with a hotel stay, where housekeeping is typically part of the service rather than something guests are implicitly asked to take on.
Overall, while the setting is nice, the inconsistency in service expectations combined with the ongoing noise made the stay less comfortable than expected.

"Hotel room was clean and rooms seem like they have been updated. The gaming at boomtown is great, a good variety of games. I wish there were more food choices. Mel's was not up to par. "
