At low tide you can walk on the ocean floor to go over to the island the lighthouse sits. The Periwinkle is a 2 bedroom room cottage with an expansive deck for bird and whale watching and a lovely view of the Bay. Totally renovated in 2021 and new kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedrooms and loft and larger open deck overlooking the ocean. Enjoy dining alfresco with eagles and ospreys flying overhead and the sounds of whales feeding in the cove below. Easy, close-up views of whales are frequent in the summer and early fall from the cottage. This is a private and charming retreat surrounded by trees and Adirondack chairs on the cliff overlooking the water.

The Periwinkle Cottage is on beautiful Campobello Island, home of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt's beloved summer home and the museum and International Park which bear his name. Campobello Island is connected by bridge to Lubec, Maine, home of the renowned candy striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the easternmost point of the US. Within waling distance of the East Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the cottage offers privacy and seclusion and a wonderful view. Campobello is great for beach combing for star fish, sea urchins and sand dollars and shards of ancient sea glass, walk on the ocean floor at low tide to visit the lighthouse. Watch working fishing boats, play golf on the spectacular 9 hole oceanfront golf course, tour the Roosevelt International Park and visit FDR's summer home, hike the trails, go rock collecting on the beaches. Visit Herring Cove, Campobello's public beach with picnic and playground. 2 1/2 hours from Bar Harbor and 1 1/2 hours from St Andrews Canadian resort.
