I needed accommodation as I came to run the half marathon, it was double the price, and for what I paid, I definitely expected more. The rooms were spacious but could do with a revamp. They had no safes, the amenities offered were from back in the 90’s and the facilities could do with a bit of an update . Service was pleasant. Not sure if I would book there again though.

Nothing good at Rydges Canberra. Entering the hotel, there was a strong smell of perfume, I think it came from the carpet. Wash it, instead of pouring litres of deodorant on top of it! Clean it properly. The morning after I woke up with a headache due to that smell. Absurd! At check-in we had to wait more than 20 minutes because the room wasn't ready yet. Not a good start! Old premises and dirty room, bathroom with mould in the shower wall tiles. Bed was comfy enough and clean. Kettle and small fridge were full of dust. Bar service: awful. Although we had breakfast included in our promotion, we decided to get something from the bar. It took them more than 10 minutes to bring us 1 long black coffee and 1 cappuccino. If you call that dirty black water coffee, you don't know what coffee really is. The only positive thing was the free undercover and secured parking. Well, free... It surely was included in the total price. Sorry but we won't be coming back anytime soon.

Upgrade was awesome by the first staff member. The room was fantastically massive. Kitchen is terribly outdated, constant fan that you can’t turn off and no towels in the swimming pool area. Breakfast buffet was actually nice although I was a little disappointed by the dinner prices especially when the menu doesn’t offer any kids meals? With three rooms booked between my family and I not one room had a phone. When using our own to speak to reception about the bathrooms flooding with water because of terrible engineering I’m imagining, we were on hold for so long we hung up! There were no rude staff; in fact, each and every one of them were all smiles. I maybe would stay again if I were stuck but I’d keep in mind to ask them beforehand for everything that was missing; including basic soaps, cups and maybe more than 3 towels for 4 people.

I ordered room service on the first night, unfortunately my discarded tray and leftovers were still outside my door two days later, i had to go to reception to bring it to their attention. It costs $18 per day to park there, on top of room costs. I put the card on my door to say i was happy with no housekeeping, as there was a promise of $10 per day food and drink voycher, this was not applied to my bill. The only breakfast option is the buffet, no option for a light room service breakfast. I paid over $900 for my stay and was quite disappointed overall.

Some of the staff were very arrogant, couldn’t use the gym, spa facilities even though they said that I could use them but had to ask 3 times and all 3 times they said “tomorrow”… Had to ask for towels, soap and shampoo because the room didn’t have any of these. None of the stuff seemed like they cared. Not a good experience.

Nice place, well kept. We stayed a Friday night and they were charging $18 for parking on site. Street parking was free for weekends and after 5pm only a few meters away. The place was nice and would stay again.

Apart from the pool not being available and not being notified of this until the day prior to check in, the bed mattress was awefull I spent the night rolling into my husband in the dip in the middle. It was most difficult to sleep on a sloping mattress. It was not what I had expected having stayed at this property before.

Nice but staff gave average service. The room wasn't great, yet we were charged $600 per night! Parking fee of $18 per night was unwelcome.

Glassware Brocken in the hallway and had to wait for over two hours to check it because room was not ready for checking n bar staff couldn’t work out whether they can accept cash or card only Will be not recommending to anybody!

Air conditioning did not work, Coffee cold, Buffet breakfast not as extensive as it use to be. This Hotel use to be a great place to stay, it is now run by unprofessionals & no disciplinary action for the noise that we had to endure during our 3 night stay. No Customer service overall. They use to have fruit at Reception - no more
