"the place is restored 1931 house. a lot of care went into getting it fixed to the original "Japanese era" style. It's pretty much the same as the pictures. However, at the check in, we ran into a major snags. The listing shows 2 rooms/2 baths, but the proprietor only gave me ONE room of the 2 room listing, because he assumed all 4 of us could fit into a tiny room. That wasn't acceptable to us. "Located in the enter of old Taichung city close to the main train station. Good restaurants and confectioneries are within walking distance. Room is spacious, and the king bed is way bigger than its counterpart you see in America. "

"We really enjoyed our stay at The Splendor and would stay again. The hotel is in a great location, close to shopping and restaurants. It's also a short walk to the botanical gardens. Our room was very clean. It's an older hotel so a bit shabby in places. Scuff marks on the walls for example. Also the beds are very hard, but I was told this is typical in that area. Overall a lovely stay though."
