I never had a chance to stay because the office closed at 9 pm and NO ONE would answer the phone. In fact, someone picked up the phone and hung up on me. What hotel doesnt have a person on site at all times?!! I spoke with a gentleman at the liquor store and he said he heard of this problem every weekend. If you're going to close at 9 make it in BOLD PRINT.

We arrived at hotel at 1:35pm to check in and was told check in was not until 3pm. I had to pull up my reservation to show what the check in time said even when I told her I only had 25 minutes to make it to the wedding I was going to, finally checked me in and said they would have to inform your site of correct check in time. The room had a terrible odor but we had to hurry out the door. Upon returning to the room odor was worse we tried to open patio door to air out but had no screen door, my husband looked in the air conditioning unit and there was mold in it that was the smell, the cable box was broken so no TV, no phone, no info packet in the room, went to put our food in the refrigerator and it was disgusting. So I first called the office about smell and TV she said cable was out. No not at all, I could connect to the Wi-Fi so at this time I was irritated and went to the office, where the lady then said oh yeah I am connected to Wi-Fi as well sorry nothing I can do about any of your problems but I can leave a message for the manager to call you Monday. I told her I was not happy and wanted a refund to go somewhere else and she said she could not do that so I asked for info to call myself and was told I had to call the hotel office on Monday.

The motel was pretty spartan. We didn't have high expectations, so it was pretty much as expected. The cleaning people need to do a better job. There was cake icing on the remote control and empty beer cans outside the rear deck in the grass. The should also examine and clean the outdoor seating areas. There was a hornet's nest under the chair on the deck which I didn't see until after I sat down. I ended up being stung a dozen times or so on my right and hand. My leg was swollen and covered with rashes from the stings for 5 days. A hornet also ended up in the room at bed time and we ended up having to chase it around to kill it. Not what I wanted to do right before bed.

This property is only good if it's a last resort. For a few dollars more, I'm sure you can find a place that is better suited for you. We stayed here because we needed a last minute place for the Eagleman triathlon. Everything else was sold out. There was no deadbolt on the door. All they have is a lock on the doorknob that I felt could be broken into in 2 seconds. There was a security chain on the door, but that didn't give me much comfort. Also, we had to push the door hard for it to actually close. Otherwise, it looked closed, but one push on the door, even with it locked, and you could open it back up. The towels were horrendous. The bath towels were so thin and small, I'm not sure who they thought would be able to use them. Thankfully, I brought my own towel. I would definitely never stay here again, but I will give it credit for being a place to lay my head. Definitely won't recommend it but if it needs to be a last resort, like it was for us, then it's probably OK enough to take your chances.

This is a no frills MOTEL ! Don't expect much. The price was good for what you get. It was clean, had ac, microwave and a TV. This place is good for someone who doesn't care about having a nice room just needing a place to crash for the night. I would stay there again if there wasn't anything else available. All an all it's not too bad

When I came at 11pm to check the office was closed, nobody answered the phone so I could not get a key and to get in. I contacted Expedia, they also could not reach someone from the motel. I had to book another hotel for this night and am still fighting for my money back. That’s unheard of

The room was clean but the bedspread could use a washing, the rest of the linens were clean . Lighting in the room could be better. You check in and out at the convenience store at the gas station. The store closes at 9PM. Don't arrive late. They do place an additional $50 dollar hold on your card for the room I suppose in case you destroy the place. I found that to be quite odd.

for the price, we have to be realistic and it was pretty good, the room was bigger than expected, clean, air conditioned, tv,etc. etc. it is very good deal. big issue is that they charge me the room fee upon check in claiming that reservation via hotels.com was not paid

Hotel staff would not work with us on Hard check-in time cut-off. Requiring a check-in time before 9:00 PM on a Saturday, of a HOLIDAY WEEK is ridiculous, given timing, traffic and uncertainties. I could not risk driving 2+ hours only to find doors locked. Staff provided no avenues or interest in adjusting to meet or schedule, nor offered any compensation. Terrible customer service.

Drove 11hrs on a bike in the rain. Called them to let them know we were on our way. was 20 min late. They were closed and nobody around. Had to drive 45 more min in rain to find a motel with 2 rooms.

The nightmare motel
It was a nightmare. The air conditioning was so loud you could not sleep. The towels were so small that you could only dry if you were not wet. No amenities what so ever. The only thing was that there was WiFi and a tv. Other than that it was absolutely a terrible place to stay. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It is right on the main road connected to convenience gas station which means outside noise is always there. Combined with the air conditioner noise you could not sleep. And the beds are so small that two people can’t sleep in the bef

With remodel it would be a gem, but...
This could be a wonderful place if they invested in remodel. The back balcony opens to a beautiful green field with horses. But sorely in need of a full update. Also, there was no hot water, but said they will look into it.

It's a place to stay(if there's nothing else)!
This is an "ok" place, but it's not entirely presented as it actually looks or operates...which is kind of disappointing. It's located right off the main road(Rt. 213) & on the same property as a gas station/store & school bus parking area(so there's quite a bit of vehicle traffic, including tractor trailers)---so there's noise(which personally didn't really bother me, but to some it may)! The room was spacious enough that included a full-size bed, table, chair, mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, wall-mounted TV, AC/heat unit(that worked very well) & average sized bathroom(with walk-in shower). The rooms are all located on an upper level(second floor; so there's steps/landing/steps; no elevator)...there's also plenty of parking(underneath rooms, as well as in front of building & within the parking lot area). Sadly, I had a room that the rear patio door didn't completely close or lock(did have a security bar to block it from being opened more than 2" from the outside) & there was barely any kind of hot water in the sink or shower(actually was barely lukewarm). I've seen from other reviews about an unannounced $100 deposit, although I wasn't charged that, but during checkout the lady at the counter asked about returning my $50 deposit & then said "oh, you didn't have that...nevermind"(so not sure about that). I found it very close to my evening destination(DJ'ing for NYE) & thought it was an alright place, but can't say that I'll return or really recommend---sorry.

Have stayed here before and will stay again as it is convenient, but hardly a 3 star motel. This time I was required to give a Fifty Dollar CASH Deposit at check-in. Luckily I had the cash as the web site did not say anything about the requirement. No heat in the room when we arrive. The Window AC unit took about an hour to warm the place up. Some of the buttons are missing and I had to insert a pen to hit the switch to raise the temperature. No instructions on the TV that requires two remotes to work. No TV guide/listings. No Weather channel found. Water needs to run for about 4 minutes until hot water gets to the shower.

Forget it
The first room had a broken heater - a problem considering it hit around 25 degrees that night. So I was switched to a second room with a working heater - but it was inconsistent, sometimes blowing cold, sometimes too hot, leading to a very uncomfortable experience. No phone, but I was used to that, having stayed there several times before. The shower in the new room has two faucets, one for hot and one for cold. The hot water faucet wouldn't turn on any more than a cold drip. The hot water in the sink took about 5 min to get up to temperature, so that eliminated a shower that morning. The sink had no stopper, but I was able to plug it with a plastic saline solution bottle, making a sink wash possible, but the placement of the sink made that difficult and messy. The coffee maker had to be moved from its location to the floor next to the microwave and refrigerator, and I had to unplug the microwave to plug it in, but the coffee it made was very poor, tasting more like burned wood shavings than coffee, but I had to be up at 5:30 getting ready for the ride and nothing else was open so I had to drink it. For me, the redeeming feature of this hotel is its location, about 1 mi from the start of a 200K bicycle ride. But my experience this year was so dismal I doubt I'll ever stay here again even if it cost only 1/3 of what it does.

Picture on Expedia was very deceptive: place looks quaint and bucolic with horses nearby but the picture is of the side with the porch/balcony. On the other side -the side with the office and room entrances- is a small convenience store and gas station; rather seedy in appearance. With heavy traffic, I arrived after the office closed so had to go t the store clerk to check in. Check in and check out was no problem, however, when I checked out just after 6 am the next morning and asked for the deposit check back the new clerk (not the one from the night before) didn't seem to know what I was talking about. When I explained again that I was asked for a deposit, and gave the clerk a check, she found it and returned it. Once in the room, it was shabby but fairly clean. The linens were clean and fresh but there was some grit on the floor and the only chair was a folding chair which looked dirty and worn. The bathroom was clean but the toilet ran off at intervals all night; I reported this when I checked out. There was only one deadbolt lock on the door which made me a little uncomfortable as a single, elderly woman so I folded the chair and put it against the door for noise just in case. All-in-all, a fairly decent place to lay my tired head but would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

BLACK MOLD -- DIRTY
this place was HORRIBLE!. I have pictures to show the black mold, dirty chairs that looked like they had urine stains on them. Stated queen bed, it was a full bed. Stated no smoking, the room smelled like cigaretts. Horrible. We did not stay here! We left and ended up paying double somewhere else. Very disappointed as HOtels.com stated this was a 3 star place. I actually am contacting the health board to see who needs to go look at this place. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY

Motel story
First, did not see where we were to check in. What we thought was the office was not. You had to go to the quick stop/gas station office to check in. By the picture, it looked as it your room would be on ground level. NOT, you had to climb wooden steps with a landing between the two sets of steps. They seemed a little steep also. The room was clean and I think the sheets were clean. Bathroom floor was a little worn, as was the sink, but basically clean. They did have a coffee maker with one pack of coffee which was regular coffee. The motel sits right at the main road with a gas station and quick stop in front of the motel. They should have the sign where people could see that the motel office was in the quick stop. The two young mean were very polite but it was rather busy in there. At night, the room (#1) was noisy due to road and gas station traffic. I think they offered WIFI, but no phone in the room.

Let's Do The Time Warp Again!
First of all the place is stuck in a time warp. They actually advertise "cable TV", which didn't work by the way. When I told the manager that the cable didn't work she replied, "It went out Friday. You are the second room to tell me this. I guess I should have a look." The real point of contention is: We’ve guaranteed your booking with Visa ending in 0056. You will be charged deposits by the property based on the following schedule. USD 100 (within 1 day of arrival) This is right next to a VISA logo. When you arrive at the hotel they ask for a cash only deposit. The hotel even sent me this email,"thank you for your reservation with Hillside Motel. We value your business. Check in time is between 3pm and 9pm. Please remember we do have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Thank you again and we'll see you next week!" Again, no mention of a cash only deposit. I would only use this pace as a last resort.

The pictures are misleading. Yes, in the back you can see a horse farm. Woop de doo... It is a small motel by the side of a busy road. Directly in front of your door - there is a gas station with deisal trucks pulling up at all hours. It is under your window! YOU ARE IN A GAS STATION. The check in desk was in a small gas station store with a young adult who called someone else to find out how to register us, needed to say the room number outloud 3x and still forgot it after he hung up. You need to leave a $100 cash deposit, and there is no form to say you left it, just his initials on a receipt. The room had no less than 10 beetles in it and my daughters socks were BLACK after 10 minutes of walking on the carpet. There are foam mattresses with no boxsprings on a metal frame. The shower was so small you would have trouble showering without touching the walls. It was next to a large liquor store and a restaurant that had been boarded up. Not a family motel by a long stretch. We left ASAP the next morning and took the loss of one night penalty to get out! AWFUL experience !

The hotel made you leave a cash deposit when that was not stated on hotels.com and then tried to charge me more money than what I booked for. Had nothing but a hard time from the clerk in the morning who didn't know what she was doing and made it up as she went. But room was clean served the purpose. No telephone, no alarm clock, shower head fell off, hot water took forever. Could be a cute place with some work.

Dont go there.! RUDE , OLD, DIRTY ... Orbits does not tell the truth about this place! Nothing on the web site tells you there is a $100 CASH ONLY deposit required. What kind of place needs a $100 CASH deposit!?! ... Ya ... this kind of place! Didn't ask but rooms by the hour fits.

Golf Trip Perfect
Took a golf trip to Queenstown Harbor with a friend. Service made it perfect. Rooms don't have any bells or whistles but the ambiance was perfect for the trip. Less than ten minutes to the course.
