"Very good location center of downtown, easy walkable to many amenities and sites a little tough to get into if you're driving a car. But once there, it was a great stay. Convenient underground parking nearby."
"I was attending an event at the IceParc so the location is great. The room is small but adequate and comfortable, and the kitchenette is very nice. The supermarket next day is convenient.
I rated cleanliness lower because some kitchen utensils were not clean; I had to wash cutlery before using."
"Staff very helpful in ordering Pizza for us as restaurant not open Sundays. The only drawback was having to wait an hour for reception to open at 6.30pm"
"Dated hotel in need of some TLC and cleaning as there were several cobwebs in the room. Pillowcase was poor material and bed hard. Breakfast had gone up in price in two weeks and there was a limited range."
"Value for money? Not at all. No restaurant at weekends. Bar staffed by receptionist. Poor choice of beers. You have to pay for the car park for no obvious reason. Corridor painted black. In the room, the only lightswitch was by the bed so coming in when it was dark was like pinning the tail on the donkey. It took 15 minutes to work out how to use the tv control. Another 15 minutes to work out the shower which had a dangerously slippery surface. Breakfast was way too expensive.
That might cover it but there may be more."
"Our night at the Chateau had to be the single most memorable night of our trip.
I loved it; my other half was a bit freaked by it all.
The property is a long way from anywhere down a stone road. The wildlife is incredible (I’ve never heard an all-night frog chorus before and the deer roam freely through the meadows). It is basically a private house offering rooms and a basic breakfast- not a hotel… it’s very much like taking an Air BnB room.
The owner is a character but speaks virtually no English- this isn’t for you if you’re not able to get by in French.
The house is unique, and speaks of grandeur in the way that old piles do. It felt like spending the night in a National Trust Manor House before they’ve done it up.
If you want a night in deepest Anjou where you’re left to yourself to explore a chateau and can sit drinking wine under a tree with a cat purring on your lap, this is worth a go. If you’ve got young kids, you can’t speak much French or have mobility issues (there’s a spiral staircase), stay somewhere else. "
