Escape to Sunset Yurt, a peaceful off-grid retreat tucked into the forest on the slopes of Pleasant Mountain. A short uphill hike brings you to your private yurt and circular deck, with westerly views through the treetops—a beautiful place to unplug, rest, read, write, create, or simply listen to the woods.
Sunset Yurt has no electricity or Wi-Fi. We provide oil lamps and tea lights for lighting, a two-burner propane stove for cooking, and a wood stove with plenty of firewood to keep you cozy.
The yurt sleeps up to 4 with:
1 queen pull-out futon
1 set of bunk beds
What’s included:
Private deck
Wood stove + firewood
Two-burner propane stove
Cookware, dishes and utensils
Locally roasted coffee + tea
French press and coffee grinder
Fresh well water in jugs
Ice chest (bring your own ice)
Nearby composting toilet
Warm shower about a 2-minute walk away
Camp chairs, table and fire ring
Private hiking trails and spring-fed mountain brook
Please note: There is no running water, bathroom, electricity or Wi-Fi inside the yurt. Guests provide their own linens, towels and pillows. In fall, winter and early spring, we recommend a 20°F-rated sleeping bag. There is no car access to this yurt and it is a 5 minute hike to the parking lot.
Sunset Yurt is family-friendly, and children 8 and under stay free. Please let us know how many guests are coming so we can prepare the space accordingly.
We use self-check-in and recommend arriving before dark on your first visit. Outdoor lighting is minimal, so bring a flashlight or headlamp.
Outside your door, explore private hiking and snowshoeing trails across our 33 wooded acres, relax beside the spring-fed mountain brook, or use the yurt as your base for adventures throughout Western Maine and nearby New Hampshire.
Depending on availability, you can also add a private wood-fired sauna session or private yoga class to your stay for an additional cost.
Come for the quiet, the stars, the forest and the chance to experience life without a screen for a little while.
