This is definitely a basement rental - the communal style might work for others but we found it fairly unfinished, in need of work, and worth noting the shared space it is in. We did experience a few issues with our stay that did not necessitate intervention but should be noted in case they can be corrected for the enjoyment of future guests. The smaller bedroom sheets seemed to be dirty when we arrived and we could not find clean sheets until our last day. Based on this we decided to use the other larger bed despite it being too firm for our taste and too creaky to be enjoyable, and footsteps were very audible from the floor above because of it being under where there is no rug and people are wearing shoes. Many of the walls have screws, holes or pencil markings from intended mounting points for art or signage. The listing indicated the ability to control temperature but we could not find the thermostat in the utility room. The kitchen ventilation via the microwave fan does not seem to efficiently pull out smoke from cooking. Lastly, we did not find the backyard pool area to be the “private oasis” that was described due to it being right outside the windows of the main ground floor unit. For this reason we didn’t feel drawn to use the pool and hot tub which were a large reason for booking this rental. Others booking this location may enjoy the communal nature of the backyard, but to us it felt a little awkward. Hopefully these items can be fixed or made clear in the listing.
