I rarely leave a review but have to with this one. This place has so much potential but the pet stains in carpet and on furniture, and the overwhelming smell of urine was bad, really bad. We stuck it out but nearly left a day early due to the smell. Hot tub was nice and hot but the jets did not work. Whale watching from the deck was superb and we would have sat out there for long periods of time but all chairs (except for one) were broken.

Nice Place and Location!!

We just spend Spring Break at this location. It was stormy and cold, but the house was great. There was a room for everyone and a nicely set up kitchen. The hot tub was wonderful!! We had everything we needed. Some mattresses are worn out though.

Valentines escape

Great spot! Easy walk to all things Depoe Bay. While older it is well appointed, multiple tvs throughout the property and the hot tub is surprisingly private once your vehicle is in place. We will for sure be back.

Close to the bay, peaceful stay

Property super close to the bay, but also quiet. Some places feel a bit cramped, overall was a great place to stay, close to everywhere I needed to go and still provided enough space for my crew.

Great location

The Captains Quarter's rental has a wonderful view of the ocean and is with in walking distance of the Bay Front shops. Our family really enjoyed having the comforts of home vs staying in a cramped hotel room. We would stay here again.

Bigger than expected!

This was a lovely home. We had plenty of space, a beautiful view of the ocean from both the dining area and both porches. There were 4 bedrooms, one with full sized bunk beds (both on top and bottom). There is what I think is a dog bed in the living room up in the window. It was actually our sons favorite place to be the entire time as it was an elevated bed with a view out the window. Amazing laundry room, super easy to use. Gorgeous Kitchen and Dining area. Amazing master suite upstairs with it's own ocean view porch. About the only thing to know is that for the 4 beds downstairs you share one small bathroom, but the master bathroom is bigger upstairs. I would recommend this home to anyone going to the coast, it was a lovely place to stay with my kids.

Right around the corner from the commercial strip of Depoe Bay and well situated for quick walks to the ocean overlook for sunsets. Sleeps a ton of people and great spot in the living room for afternoon naps!

We Will stay here again!

Great weekend away with some friends. Love the large table space for playing board games, hanging out and chatting. It was stormy weather and perfect for watching the waves splashing in depot bae from the dining room table. In the morning the sun came out and we hung out on the porch and watched the waves. There's a great coffee spot just down the street, 1 minute that opens at 7 am. Lots of great food options walking distance. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings and overall had a great experience.

I was a little disappointed to see that the hot tub did not have a beach view, that was the whole reason I rented this house. The bed and pillows were seriously outdated and horribly uncomfortable. Never could get the Wi-Fi to work in the living room also, could never get the heater blower to work on the fireplace so the house was frigidly cold, otherwise it was a really cool house.

Location is everything - house is OK

If I'm giving a review based on the overall experience I would give it 4 stars. The location is perfect, the view is exceptional - we whale watched from the patio and it was incredible. The house is a bit dated and dirty - stains on the carpet and ants pretty much all over the kitchen. The bedrooms are pretty small as well. However - the house is used to sleep and you are supposed to be out seeing the sights...so this worked out great for our family of 8.

Definitely Pet Friendly…

The house location and layout was great, my daughter loved the balconies where we could watch for whales. The dinning room table also was a great for spotting wild life, however, word to the wise; don’t take off your socks in the house, bring fabreeze and I don’t suggest letting the kiddos play on the carpet areas due to the nature of the stains. Otherwise, it’sa great house with great views and access to shopping.

Great location

Pros: Loved the view and location! Walking distance to shops and ocean. Cons: Unfortunately the kitchen has very little in the way of spices or other items needed for cooking. At least 7 remotes in living room with no labels as to what each one went to. Living room was cold and the fireplace would only bblow warm air for about 10 seconds at a time and then stop. We ended up covering in blankets when in that room.

Great for a family with pets

This was our third time staying at the Captain's Quarters. As always, the stay was very enjoyable. Depot Bay is the perfect spot for anyone who enjoys watching ocean waves crash against rocks, or strolling through little coastal shops, or having a home base for exploring. One of our favorite beaches is Fogarty, and it is just a four minute drive from the Captain's Quarters. Upon our arrival, the home was very clean. We always enjoy the multiple bedrooms that allow all of our kids to have a room they enjoy (there is always some negotiating around who gets the upstairs room with the ocean view balcony!). The hot tub is a nice addition. The only minor improvement I can make is that the hot tub lock be made more accessible and easier to use. Other than that, it was great!

Cute but dirty

Convenient location and roomy. Issues with all the carpets having pet stains and the smells that go with that, we went to the store and got carpet cleaner to help. After returning we had to go back to the store for paper towels and toilet paper. Communication with property owner was terrible and not satisfying. BBQ there but not working. Hot tub is next to driveway, next to road.

Location is perfection

The view is perfect! You have the perfect spot to sit back and watch the waves crash against the rocks. The sunsets and sunrise. The house was perfect for what we needed. The beds were comfortable and clean, the home was clean, including the hot tub. Could it use some updating? YES. The microwave burnt out on us on the first night while trying to make popcorn.. the pots and pans are past due on being replaced. The Teflon is now getting into your food. So I recommend bringing your own or asking if they have updated their pots and pans before booking. I read a lot of comments regarding pet/ urine smell and 8/8 people in my group agreed that we could NOT smell pet urine, and we are all very clean people. We will definitely be renting again!

Besides the incredible view this home offers, I am not sure how this place is still being rented. There was a notice of trustee sale taped on the door upon arrival and the entire home, furniture, and linen had a very strong odor of urine. I called customer service about the smell when we got there and was told a ticket was opened and a local representative would contact me. I never heard from anyone, but someone had time to come by and remove the trustee notice of sale from the door. I had to purchase air fresheners and open windows and doors and that still didn’t get the smell out which was very hard to tolerate. The dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and when we tried to start it to wash them we found out the dishwasher was broken. The chairs on the upstairs balcony were broken and unsafe to sit in and most of the blinds were either non functioning or broken. The hot tub didn’t have bleach in the floater and had a funny smell and the sliding glass door does not lock, they use a large piece of wood to lock it. I hope that someone resolves these issues or stops renting this place. I do not recommend staying here!

Anniversary weekend

My husband, 2 kids and i along with our friends that are also a family of 4 had a great time! The bunk room is perfect for kids. Could use some updating and cosmetic attention (broken outlet covers. Bottom of stove coming apart. Lights not working or dead light bulbs not changed.) But all in all a cute little place for a few days.
