Amazingly friendly staff, perfectly cooked meal, well made drinks with an awesome view of the lake. It’s a historic building which adds to the stress relief.
After some considerable difficulty in having the property honor our reservation, we arrived, got our room and enjoyed a well maintained facility, in a beautiful location, albeit with limited on-site activities, even though located directly on a large lake. On balance, very nice property if you need to be in that area; but not worth travelling there just for the stay.
Lovely hotel! You really feel like you’ve stepped back into time, but with annemites that you would expect for today. Great food as well. Staff were efficient. Beds are firm. Bathroom was spotless. Nice quiet location. The room key was a bonus.
Wonderful blast from the past resort on the lake. Right next to the old time Catskill resort featured in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Peaceful and quiet time.
The staff is fabulous!! They are very friendly and attentive. They make sure your stay is wonderful. We will definitely visit again. Food was delicious as well.
Beautiful setting! Lovely rooms clean and had wonderful amenities. Need sign by spa tub to turn it on as switch on wall near shower and not at all obvious!
Front desk attendant on check-in gave mis info on breakfast and breakfast attendant not very engaging. Checkout clerk extremely helpful!
This property is absolutely lovely and inviting! The room was cozy and spotless, and it seems like it’s had some nice updates recently. I especially loved the bathroom, which features a separate whirlpool tub and shower—both in great condition! Just a heads-up, though: the room isn’t accessible for those with mobility challenges, so I might not be able to bring along guests who would need that. Nonetheless, we found it to be the best price for graduation weekend in the Binghamton area!
The restaurant offers great drinks and food.
We had a nice two night stay. The property, overlooking the lake, is beautiful. Charming reception area and dining room/ restaurant. The employees were pleasant. Breakfast was delicious.
Taking away a star because both nights we had someone traipsing up and down all night in the room above ours. The floors are extremely creaky (understandable given the age of the building) so this meant we were disturbed all night. The reception is not manned at night and we didn't want to call the managerI guess if we went back we could request a top floor room but you can hear people walking around in the hallway outside as well. There was also a large stain on the carpet and sofa that really should be cleaned or otherwise dealt with. Overall a good stay though.
We arrived as a family and the staff at the Inn made sure that we were well cared for. Delaney and Valorie made sure that we had wonderful meals and that our water glasses was never empty. Both my boys needed some time to study and the staff was able to show them a quiet room where they could work! We had an awesome stay at the Inn! ❤️

we love the lake and the quaint inn. The restaurant staff are very young and sweet but new at waiting tables for example coffee comes without cream or sugar unless you ask. The food is pricey but the view is great the main course did not come with a salad for example fancy mac n cheese but nothing else. The lake is pristine but the ladder into the water was wonky and needed the first step repaired. the room is cute. It’s very relaxing there. The breakfast was great.

The property is almost 100 years old with lots of history. It has been recently renovated and done well. It is right on the lake with lots of outdoor sitting and a pier. The staff are all very friendly and you can tell they enjoy working there. The restaurant was nice with delicious food. The reason for not giving 5 stars all across is because the renovation was done to restore to the original so the rooms are small and the bed was not overly comfortable. Though they did have robes which is one my favorite things. It was definitely nice to stay for one night and experience the property.

This is a unique property with a lot of character and history. Rooms were spacious and we had an upgrade because we were the only people there. The A/C and heat units being the ones that vent out the window were very loud. No elevator so dragging luggage up the stairs was a little tough. Overall, very nice place to stay. It is just older but has a lot of charm. The staff was super nice! Brought water to our rooms, made coffee in the morning and helped with our luggage when we departed.
The Inn is a beautiful place offering offering superior food and beverage service. That's why we booked a stay there with good friends. However, we were not aware that the restaurant and bar are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! We were the only 4 people staying at the Inn! Shades of the Shining! It wasn't all bad though. The staff was very accommodating. We were served breakfast and they were always available to help. All in all, a vary unique experience for us. I will continue to recommend The Chestnut Inn.
Wonderful, tranquil step back into time for a lakeside retreat. Room was large with a view, as promised, and the food at the restaurant for dinner was delicious.
The breakfast started a little bit late at 8 am for myself and other sunrise watchers that I ran into. The eventual pistachio scone that I ate with hot coffee was incredible- so much that they ran out! (And substituted with pumpkin.)
Looking forward a return stay next summer after they continue to make renovations!
A historic gem, recently reopened, that still preserves much of the flavor, aesthetic, and whimsical delight of the 1928 original. We loved the arts and crafts furniture, woodwork, and architectural details. The staff were kind and considerate. It was hot when we visited and the small portable air conditioners were straining to keep up. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and refreshed despite this. We also loved the interesting people, both locals and passerbys like us, who we met at the charming bar. Dinner was delicious—do not pass on the fried burrata in tomato sauce if you happen in when it is on the specials. The chef is gifted. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Through no fault of the property, we didn't have enough space in our room (they indicated that the room fit 4 people comfortably, and it did in theory but our 2 boys were too large to share the queen size fold out).
Instead of saying there was nothing they could do, they remedied the problem by assuring we had enough space.
The beds were comfortable, and we enjoyed the on-site restaurant (the burger was one of the best I've ever had).
I would say this is not an ideal hotel for larger families since they indicated that the maximum numbers of beds in each room is 1 a fold out couch, and while each room in theory comes with breakfast, it is based on a comp of $37.99 per room against anything you order at breakfast time. We ordered 1 breakfast platter (eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, toast) an order of french toast for the 4 of us to share, and it wasn't enough food and if we were to have ordered 4 entrees for the table it would have been well over $37.99. The food was delicious though, so no complaints on taste!
However, my spouse & I both agreed that we would stay here again if it was just the 2 of us. Very quiet, and has a bit of a romantic vibe.
