Excellent place for the price point. Really great view! Someone had a lot of fun dolling up this place, but it is an older building so expect old building issues like thin walls, squeaky gates, etc. Other than those few things though our stay was excellent.

We are return guests to the getaway. The accommodations are comfortable, the beds are immanently sleep-able. Good location, a bit out of the way but very accessible to everything. We’ve even taken a quick side-trip to Joshua Tree. We will be back.

Perfect getaway

This is such a great place. It was perfect for my stay the pools are clean and inviting, and right outside the door. The place great bed was supper comfy and furnature was as well. Just a great place to rest and relax!! I Will be back!!

Desert hideaway and launching pad

Eric’s place is clean, decorated and comfortable. Great views. The location is removed enough to feel private and away from the bustle, and close enough to stores, restaurants, and hiking in the area to feel accessible to everything. Great place to while away in the sun or as a home base for desert exploring.

Fabulous getaway

The property is lovely with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains. It’s a short drive to Palm Springs and nearby National parks. We enjoyed the retro/modernist styling of the place. The property was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The host, Eric, was friendly and helpful. We hope to come back here next year.

Retro oasis!

The Getaway was such a fun place to stay for a few nights. The views are even better than advertised. The apartment is full of so many fun, retro decorations and furniture that I didn't want to go out! Communication with Eric was great - he was fast to respond and provided really thorough check in info. I would definitely stay here again for a unique, memorable retro experience.

We loved our stay at the Getaway! It was alike a home away from home. The apartment is conveniently located for getting out and about in the desert. 1st time in desert hot springs

Extremely cute property, classic 'mid century' build and decor. Apartment well appointed and well stocked. Literally 5 blocks to town. Host was very solicitous and helpful. 100 to turn on the heat for the hot tub each time seems exorbitant but that seems to be the going rate. We'll likely come back next winter.

So first off, it was so lovely to stay at an original mid century place that still had the kitchen and bathroom fixtures intact!! that is rare these days, and its something i look for in a rental and rarely find. and the privacy was lovely, with such a small number of units, we wouldent have known that anyone else was even on the premises. also loved the curated decor, which was totally on point. and the amazingly HOT hot tub, and even the shower was nice (super hot water)! thank you, will def stay next time we are in PS.

5 nights in DHS at the Getaway

The Getaway is located in a quiet residential neighborhood up against the foothills. We stayed in unit #1. Well equipped kitchen, nice views, very comfortable for 2. Easy drive to Vons for groceries. Interesting coffee table books on mid century modern architecture! Sort of has an old California, throwback motel vibe— nice contrast to the many mega resorts in the area. We liked the location because it is fairly close to interesting hiking areas (Whitewater, Big Morongo preserves) as well as the most interesting part of Joshua Tree NP. Even Idyllwild is only an hour away. Thanks Eric, we will be back. Herb & Judy

Wonderful little vintage motel style home away from home. Was there for work and the only guest during the week- but made use of the pool and kitchen. Planning a trip back for ‘vacation’ and not ‘working vacation’!

Cute and cozy

This place is quite, cute and has cool mid century designs and furnishings. It set up if you need to work or just chill and watch tv in the living room or bedroom. I absolutely loved the book collection and Roku TV set up in 2 rooms. The host was responsive, respectful and kind.
