We came to town for a wedding. It was ideal location for wedding, restaurants, and walking. Had 4 couples and we all had plenty of space, our own bathrooms and gathered on large sectional to watch some college football.
This property was perfect for my family and I who traveled to Detroit for a family member’s wedding. Basement was being renovated but it didn’t affect our stay. Loved the decorations and the beds were so comfortable. Spacious and roomy home in safe neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay. Some rooms were cold on the first floor because we didn’t know how to work the heating system.
We had a party of 14 to include elderly. The house was perfect. We had access to both units upstairs and downstairs as well as the pub in the basement. Plenty of room for all. Very spacious and comfortable. The home is very old which adds charm and lots of character. The beds were very comfortable. Everyone in my group was well pleased with their stay. The area is also very nice.
I was there this weekend with my family from Detroit,Chicago, and Minnesota. The house is beautiful, and spacious. We had plenty of room for us all to enjoy, not to mention a bathroom in every bedroom. The enclosed porch with indoor bonfire is awesome!!

Convenient location to all downtown Detroit sports venues. I was told over and over all weekend by everyone in my group that it was the perfect place for us to hangout for the weekend. Came with all the necessities for a weekend getaway. Definitely will stay again when the occasion arises.
Party of 11 adults and a 5 year-old for long weekend (Thursday to Monday). Breakfast in, lunch and dinners in GP and Detroit. Ford Piquette Museum, Tiger baseball, River Walk, Michigan Central Station, 80th birthday party.
The house was amazing! It was exactly what we needed for our group. We had amazing weather, we went to a tigers game and made many many memories! Thank you so much for sharing your place with us! Communication was very fast! Would definitely stay here again in the future!

Very nice location. The house has a lot of potential, but there were many hazards like nails protruding from floors, electrical outlets that were loose or hanging, main stairway lights that were intermittently on/off, several downstairs windows locking mechanisms did not work. Lighting remotes were missing making overhead lights and fans inoperable. I would love to stay here one day when the house has been fully renovated.

We were very disappointed with this property. The house is very comfortable housing 12 of us in a beautiful neighborhood. Unfortunately there were too many problems that impacted our stay. The dishwashers on the first and second floor of the house would not open. One shower head on the second floor did not work at all, and a couple others did not work well. One bedroom on the first floor did not have a remote to turn on the light switch and therefore had no light. No soap was provided in the bathrooms. These were just the major problems The worst problem was that we notified the host on our first night about these problems and he said maintenance would be there the next day, and thought we continued to remind him about maintenance they never came.Again, this should be a perfect house for a large group, but sadly it was not.
McCain Manor is by far the worst home we have stayed in. Had this been our first rental experience, likely we would never rent again. First and foremost, the home is dirty. Paint splattered on wood floors, carpeting not vacuumed & the floors are filthy. Darned near every room in this large home is in need of common maintenance or a repair. It's on a gorgeous street in a grand neighborhood - this house is the dog on the street. Driving up, the lawn was in dire need of mowing, weeds growing taller than the shrubs, a driveway in need of replacing years ago, and the front door is in need of painting…this greeting set the tone for what was inside. There was no notebook or folder with welcome info and instructions on how things worked, nor departure info. The host dribbled info in emails while we were there, assuming we were even checking email, that was a first VRBO experience. The online pictures were either taken some time ago, or were staged for bookings, as many of the rooms did not resemble the home as it appears today. Examples of this home’s condition; 4 of 8 DR chandelier bulbs & kitchen lite out. There weren't any kitchen towels, & the dishwasher door wouldn't open, due to it hitting the oven handle. We had to purchase TP & tissues. Window blinds were broken in almost every BR, 2 bathtubs had glaze peeling so badly they were unusable. Sink had paper napkins tucked underneath to manage a leak. Large holes in the porch screens & canvas shades weren't functional.
