I selected a pool in my Dublin search and only considered hotels offered on this basis. The Dean doesn’t actually have a pool, only a spa, so I hold Hotels.com responsible for an incorrect listing. Had the listing been correct, I would never have picked The Dean, thus avoiding all the subsequent problems.
We arrived just after 3PM, but struggled to find reception; it looks like a shop till area. Our room wasn’t ready so we waited in the bar. Other hotels offered a complementary drink in similar circumstances, but not here. Around 15:45, I had to ask reception if our room was ready, fortunately it was. We had booked a SupeRoom - Standard Double/Twin, but were taken to a Cosy Double in the newly refurbished town house. The room was tiny with no storage space or safe. This wasn’t what we had booked, so we asked to move. Reception told us we had been “upgraded” to the smaller room, this was clearly untrue as it is cheaper. We weren’t offered anything to “downgrade”. The room we were moved to had a nightclub outside the window and we realised why they leave earplugs by the side of the bed! The SupeRoom was also devoid of drawers, wardrobe and safe. The nightclub was open until 3AM on Saturday morning and it was impossible to sleep. So we asked to move again and were moved across the corridor. We never recovered from a sleepless night! When we checked out there was a significant reduction on our account, but this was changed after checkout, although we did get some money back.
