Showed up at 6pm to a house that had not been cleaned. Not badly cleaned, not cleaned at all. Beds were all stripped, the kitchen and bathroom surfaces were filthy, the appliances were the same, and the floor badly needed to be vacuumed. The only good news was that the local property manager responded quickly when notified and, while we were out to dinner, got a cleaner out who was hard at work when we got back around 7:30. The cleaner was fast, thorough, and friendly but didn't finish until about 10:30pm. That was good but it still left us with lingering bad first impression and without full use of our accommodation for one of three nights. It could have been worse if we'd been unable to get on our scheduled ferry and shown up at 10pm instead. The property manager told that there was a communications mistake and the cleaners just didn't get scheduled.
We were contacted by reps from Vacasa who largely seemed clueless that there was ever a problem and the best they could do was a couple of text messages saying "sorry" and "we will look into it". No offer of any kind of compensation or other gesture of good will. I'd rate the property manager response and the cleaner as 4 star and the company response as zero stars.
We liked the property and would rate it a solid 4 star choice. Plenty of room, quiet, private, good shower pressure, comfortable beds, and well-furnished.
