「I was looking for a place to getaway for a couple of days and disconnect from all of my distractions, and this cabin offered everything that I was looking for in my get away. The location is great, not too close but not too far from Blacksburg and convenient to good hiking trails in the area.」

「This home is great for a peaceful get-away. With the exception of one other home nearby, it's almost on its own, so it's quiet enough to enjoy the sounds of nature. A short drive took us down through a neighborhood to sit by the lake. Back at the house, it was nice to end evenings watching the bright stars from the porch. Sherry was very responsive and friendly when we had questions.」

「The outdoor space on this property is stunning. There is a lot of outdoor space to entertain and the views are so pretty. Would be amazing for a summer party. The inside was very musty when we first got there and we had to go out and get candles to chase away the smell. By the next day it was pretty much gone so I’m thinking it just hadn’t been used in a while.」

「Our 4 night stay was wonderful, the inside has been recently renovated albeit it looks like some work is still being done in certain areas. It certainly did not deter from the overall experience and the owners have done a great job with the improvements thus far. The kitchen is amazing for cooking and entertaining. The house has an in-line water heater which was nice! The location is 45 minutes from Winterplace ski resort and about a 15 min car ride to most retail restaurant establishments. ...

「We loved Four Fillies! The property was kept up very well and was so beautiful. I loved the sound of the creek. We travelled back and forth from Blacksburg which was a bit of a trek (45 minutes) but was a fairly easy drive. it was so worth it!」

「Unable to get a hotel room so this was the only alternative. The RV was listed as big enough to sleep 4. Three would have been possible but 4 a stretch and there’s no way 4 people could have taken a hot shower. I got a lukewarm one day one (only in for several minutes) and my son’s was ice cold. Also the place was clean but smelled of stale beer. Also the AC ran constantly even though thermostat was set at 75 degrees. Place was frigid.」

「I like it. I would book again but in warmer weather for me. I enjoy the scenry, the openness and the quietness. One suggestion, maybe i overlooked it but state that cell phone connectivity is low due to area. If you have a wifi code you should include it in welcome letter as when you get there the service is very low to non existing.」

「No wifi and cell service is very spotty as one would expect. Not a criticism, just an observation. There are a good deal of steps to deal with so beware if you have mobility issues. The lake itself is a walk away, no direct views from the house. The rear deck needs some TLC.」

「This property provides a wonderful riverside stay on the New River right on the river with easy access and easy parking right in front of the cabin efficiency. Close access to to the Whitehorne Boat Ramp for those the need a ramp as well as the scenic McCoys Falls right up Rt 625. Communication and instructions was excellent to plan our arrival and stay for the weekend.We look forward to coming back again this summer.」

What made the trip so memorable was getting recommendations from the owner Amy when she came to the cabin stoking the outside heater that piped in heat to cabin. Cannot over emphasize the need to do research on places to explore while there, because this cabin is in a very rural area. Amy's recommendations on where we should visit meant everything. 「The view of the lake is beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The manager was very quick to answer any questions I had. The only negative is the hill to the lake. Its not awful but if you have mobility issues it would be a problem. Over all we (dog included) loved this place.」

「My brother and I stayed here for a few days in the spring as a nice break from work and to get in some fishing. The cabin is equipped with everything you need whether it be a short or long stay. There are plenty of pots, pans, and cooking utensils. You have a full kitchen at your disposal with a good size dining table and there is also a washer/dryer if you need them. 「Mr. Hunter's cottage is a lovely cottage from a by-gone era. Located in the mountains of Giles county, VA, this cottage is comfortable with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The cottage is furnished with pieces that could have been there when it was built. The cottage has a beautiful porch, a great place for morning coffee. 「Some of the silverware had to be re-washed. One of the coffeemaksers had what looked like mildew at the bottom, so we used neither coffeemaker. On the pier were a couple of life jackets and the storage bins doors were wide open. Otherwise, things were excellent and we love to come back.」

It was a great place for a family gathering. We took advantage of kayaks, cornhole, and pool table. Everything was clean, grass mowed, and fire pit ready to go.
