Waterfront House on the Upper Chesapeake Bay

Come enjoy a beautiful view of the Elk River. This two bedroom house gives you a full waterfront view while relaxing in the living room. Have fun in the water during the day and enjoy a sunset over the bay from our porch in the evening. This house has off street parking, a fully stocked kitchen, and full bathroom. Our house sleeps 6 adults comfortably and has central air cooling. A fire pit is available for use on the side house. Drop your kayak in the water from the lower porch and head out on an adventure. We are a short drive or boat ride to Chesapeake City. There is a park and ice cream shop nearby for the kids and plenty of dining options only minutes from the house.

Great cottage on the River
Clean home that has all the ammenities in a quiet neighborhood with a deck, screened in porch and a dock on the Elkton River. The home is quite comfortable for 4 to 6 adults. Owner provided excellent dinner recommendation for Blue Claws too! We would defintely recommend it.

Great fishing for Cats
For the most part our stay was great until the last night we were there. The neighbor left his boat parked on the dock and we could not fish that night which was the entire point of us staying there. We had all of our stuff there ready to go. The guy driving the boat was also extremely drunk. Then around 11 the same neighbor proceeded to beep their horn and rev the engine of their car for about 5 minutes. Yes Matt was informed and started he would take care of it. I do not blame Matt for this but if people are renting a place then they should be told about the community docking agreement.

The property is a ranch house with one small bedroom and one medium sized bedroom. The bedrooms and living room were okay but the bathroom and kitchen were small and outdated. The sunroom appears to be an add on and was freezing as there was no insulation and gaps along the bottom where air entered. There were no blinds or curtains in the sunroom, kitchen or livingroom which was uncomfortable as anyone could see straight into the house. The best part of the house was the waterfront location. The area was quiet but I did hear gunshots at times. I then realized people were hunting when I saw a man riding a bike holding a bloody deer head. The day before our arrival the host contacted me to inform me that the neighbor was renovating and damaged the waterline resulting in murky water. They had a plumber come out to resolve the issue but offered free cancellation. I asked for a discount and they offered $15/day and two cases of water. I should have cancelled but didn't have time to find another property in a day (especially because it was the day before Thanksgiving). I asked if they could purchase more water but they reassured the water wasn't contaminated and two cases should be enough. After we arrived we had to buy more water as color and taste of the water showed there was something wrong. We had to use the bottled water for everything (showering, hand washing, dishes). The small bedroom also had ants. The view was nice but the stay is not worth the price.

Nice location but poor cleaning
The view was gorgeous but the property was not very cleaned. One of the the pictured firepits was not available for use during our stay which was frustrating as we partially rented the property to use that firepit. Back to the cleaning front, there were cobwebs everywhere and for the nightly price and the cleaning fee on top of it, that was frustrating. Even one of the cubboards with the first aid kit was covered in thick cobwebs like it had not be opened or cleaned in quite some time. The propane with the firepit that we were able to use ran out within an hour and we needed to swap it out ourselves. The beds were very uncomfortable and no sheets are provided. Also, the bathroom is tiny and awkward to use. These are all minor annoyances but they add up quickly to a fair bit more than that in our opinion. All that being said, the owners were kind and responsive to any questions or concerns we had.

Beautiful but infested with bugs
Beautiful view. But there was an infestation of ants in the kitchen, major spider problem outside, we live in Minnesota and we have spiders, these dudes where big and been living there for quite sometime. The wives would t even go outside on the deck to enjoy the sunsets. Hope this helps future wives, don’t do it.

Great Quiet getaway
This property was advertised exactly how it is. It’s 10 mins to Chesapeake City. It’s gorgeously quiet with a beautiful fire pit and view. The kitchen is ample, and the bedrooms perfect for falling asleep quietly. The living room offers amazing views of the water. Will definitely be staying again.
