The view was amazing. Our room was on the top floor and looked out over Ella Rock with a view of Little Adams peak to the side. Somehow our booking through Expedia was lost in the system even though we had prepaid, but luckily we had a copy of our booking confirmation and the hotel had a spare room. The Manager was lovely and he cooked a nice breakfast. The walk to and from town is down a busy road and took about 10 minutes.

Skuffende opphold i vakre Ella

Med fulle hoteller i populære Ella så endte vi opp med å booke tre netter på The Tenth da vi var seint ute med å bestille. Første inntrykket var en tom lobby med en hyggelig dame bak disken. Fikk rom i andre etage og vi fikk umiddelbar en dårlig følelse når vi kom inn i rommet. Er ikke mye man forventer når man er ute på tur: rent rom, god seng og grei frokost. Noen hybelkaniner kan jeg leve med, men dette var noe av det mest møkkete jeg har vært borti. Kan nevne skitne vegger, støv overalt, fugleskitt i vinduskarmen og en hel maurkoloni oppe i dusjen. Det skal sies at senga var kjempe god å sove i og sengetøyet var rent. Frokosten var også god med hyggelige ansatte som gjorde sitt ytterste for at vi skulle få en god start på dagen. Totalt sett for prisen vi betalte i forhold til standarden så anbefaler jeg folk å finne en annen plass å bo i Ella. Vi sjekket ut etter to netter, en dag for tidlig og før vi dro gav jeg eieren tilbakemelding om hva jeg syntes om renholdet på rommet. Hun tok det til seg og var glad for å høre hvordan de kunne forbedre seg,så kanskje andre får en mere positiv opplevelse enn oss.

Nice location in Ella, but the linen of the bed as well as the towels were dirty, also the second set. The rooms are very basic and have a wonderful view from the balcony. But there is also noise as it is right by the road. Staff was very nice and friendly, but not always helpful.

Enkelt hotell med trevlig personal. Vacker utsikt som gjorde allt. Myror i duschen, enkelt avskalat rum där TV och säkerhetsbox inte fungerade och inte blev åtgärdade. Nära till stan men mörk väg att gå.

Inte värt pengarna de tar för boendet. Vi hade problem med varmvatten (och kallvatten). Safetyboxen fungerade inte och strömmen var borta under perioder. Helt okey, men inte mer....

Lugnt, rent och fantastisk utsikt

Lugnt och familjeägt hotel precis utanför centrum i back Packer kaoset i Ella. Hotellet var nästan tomt vilken kändes lite udda, men stort och rent rum med underbar utsikt från balkongen.

disapointing 3 night stay

A disappointment, we will never go back. Not even close to a hotel feeling, we never even checked in, there was a guy in the entrance who just showed us to our room, and that was it. No real management. Noisy rooms from the traffic below. The hotel policy on room cleaning was only when guest were in the room, leading to no cleaning or new towels during the stay. (We had to ask for two new ones the last night) The breakfast was a bit to simple, when there is no butter or anything to put on the white toast, we skipped the breakfast 2 out of 3 mornings. Wifi to slow to even read the papers.

Hillside retreat

Lovely, fairly new hotel slightly downhill from main centre of Ella (very easy walk). Very comfortable and spacious room with view of Ella Rock and the mountain scape. Staff were engaging and helpful. Chef made great meals on request (breakfast was included with room - Sri Lankan breakfast of hoppers, dhal and sambal was best). There is LOTS of construction going on in Ella (April 2017) so I was glad for this reasonably quiet spot to relax at the end of a day exploring the hill country.

Das Hotel liegt etwas ausserhalb von Ella. Zu Fuss ist das Zentrum aber in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Der Blick auf die umliegenden Berge ist toll! Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und hatte ein sehr bequemes Bett.

Eher Baustelle als Hotel

Für 80€ pro Nacht absolut überteuert. Es wird gerade ein drittes Stockwerk ausgebaut, so dass es eher einer Baustelle gleicht, inkl. Lärm. Die Wände sind schimmelig, der Geruch moderig. Schöne Aussicht vom Balkon auf den Ellas Rock. Ansonsten ist der Balkon nicht zu gebrauchen, da vom Bauen komplett eingestaubt. Personal war sehr nett, Frühstück okay.

Find another hotel.

This hotel is dirty, the breakfast was dry toast and some scrambled Eggs. They had some light fixtured outsidebour room that was going on all night it was like being in a club. The only good thing is if you get a room with a view but you sjould try and find something else.

Pretty average hotel despite great staff and view!

The staff/service was great and the view was very nice! But I guess the view is pretty great in most places around Ella. The hotel however wasn't that good, especially not our room. - The shower hardly worked. - The curtains didn't shut all the way which meant that the flashing lights outside the hotel creates a not so nice disco like feeling inside our room - all night! And to add to the problems there was a power outage at night. This seems to be a common problem and most hotels are prepared with its own generators. Our hotel wasn't.

Amazing Staff, amazing food and amazing view

The hotel is still under construction, but you do not notice this. The staff were AMAZING and if I could give them 10 stars I would. The homemade food they cooked for us was incredible and all the food was sourced locally from the chefs village. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, one of the lads took us out one day in his tuk tuk and showed us the sights. The view from the top balcony was seriously knock out beautiful. The hotel is only a short walk from town and train station. The town is very busy and the hotel offers a welcome calm after a days exploring. I can not express who good the staff were and just lovely people. Highly recommended on all fronts

Beautiful view and quiet location

Had a great experience at this hotel. We had a deluxe room with a stunning view. Location was quiet and in close proximity to town and the sights. The owner arranged laundry pickup for us which was returned early the next am before we checked out. Good breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again :)

Sehr schönes Hotel im Aufbau

Wir waren für eine Nacht im Tenth Hotel. Wir waren in Zimmer 1. Der Ausblick auf den Ella Rock von unserem Balkon war unglaublich. Wir waren mit unserem Gastgeber sehr zufrieden. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit. Uns wurde Dinner angeboten und wir haben sehr leckeres Essen bekommen. Da wir scjon morgens um 6 Uhr wieder aufbrechen mussten, wurden uns Lunchpakete angeboten. Wirklicjmh sehr gut. Wir hatten ein sauberes Zimmer mit einem schönen Interieur. WLAN könnte etwas besser laufen. ;) Das Hotel hat großes Potential. Preis-Leistung ist top! Können es weiterempfehlen.

Perfect place to visit Ella and surroundings.

Great time in Ella in this hotel. Good, clean and comfortable room with amazing views. Friendly and very kind staff who serve a very good breakfast in a terrace in front of Ella Rock.

The Tenth Hotel fremstår nyrenoveret og rent. Simpelt men med alt hvad der behøves. Udsigten over området er intet mindre end fantastisk. Morgenmaden blev serveret at anrettet i et skønt lyst lokale med vinduer fra gulv til loft hvilket betyder, at udsigten kan nydes fra starten. God, opmærksom og meget venlig betjening.

Wir waren nicht lange auf unserm Zimmer, da wir viel vor hatten. Es ist eine sehr herzige, kleine Unterkunft. Der Inhaber ist sehr bemüht. Sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. War ein angenehmer Aufenthalt

Don't stay here - money stolen from safe!

We stayed at the Tenth Hotel in Ella for 2 nights. While the view from the hotel was amazing, we had an incredibly disappointing experience that has still not been resolved. On our second day, we went to take some money out of the safe to exchange it, only to find the equivalent of approximately $400 USD (in USD and Sri Lankan Rupees) had been taken from the supposedly secure safe. We spoke with the manager and owner of the hotel who both denied it could have happened and called us liars. They did nothing to try to rectify the situation and blamed us. We knew the money would not be returned, but we felt the situation could have been made better by acknowledging that it happened, an apology, or something along those lines to make us leave on a happy note by the management and/or owner. Instead, in email exchanges with the owner, he denied it could have happened and continued to ignore our claims. We are incredibly disappointed with the owner’s continued lack of support and customer service in this situation, and would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
