This hotel is in a great location. There were a few minor problems: a broken window shade, a TV with no cable box (there was a 2nd TV in the suite) and a card key that didn't always work, but the staff was always accommodating and quick to fix any problem. The breakfast was very good.

This is a nice hotel. It can be a problem with parking if the parking garage is full. This happened to us and I had to look for parking for a long time due to construction. Everything else was good

In the beautiful old town, average hotel

Encouraged by the photos on their website we selected this hotel for our short stay. Located right in the old city, with beautiful surroundings. Outside - nice building. Inside - we were not impressed. Clean, basic equipment, but lacking atmosphere or “vibe”.

Unfortunately, the hotel does not have AC. And most months you might not need it. But in the summer (July) it was hot and humid and there was no airflow when opening the window. It was terribly hot and unbearable. Also, I booked a double bed room and got a single. When I inquired, they said that double bed rooms are single ones?!?! Either hotels.com or the hotel itself needs to change the description and pictures I felt cheated and was very unhappy with that. The room was very, very small and the closet was super small and you couldn't open it. You had to hang your clothes side ways. Super annoying. The shower was tiny. Barely a child fits in it. It had mold all over it on the bottom. The location was good (in the city) but it got loud at night, since there are restaurants right next door and underneath. The breakfast buffet was really good and the staff there were amazing and very nice!

If we could give this hotel a review of 10/5 we would. We stayed for an extended time (16 days) and during that time we experienced the best and friendliest service. The reception staff was always friendly and cheerful. Everyone was ready to help with any question we had. Breakfast was amazing. The selection was terrific. And every morning we were greeted by the pleasant and happy staff. One staff member told me she loves her job. Who doesn't want to stay in a hotel where the staff love working? Several days my mother who travelled with me was ill and the staff made it so easy for me to take breakfast to her in the room. The room was terrific. We requested the accessible room and were not disappointed. Despite Ettlingen not being the most wheelchair friendly, Stadthotel Engel had every accessibility need addressed. The front entrance has no stairs. They have an elevator that stops at the breakfast room level. The bathroom in our room was wheelchair friendly with a raised toilet, fully accessible shower, and vanity that could accommodate a wheelchair underneath. We did not have a wheelchair but my mother has a walker which requires many of the same accommodations. The room has air conditioning for those who are concerned about that. The location is amazing. From the hotel you are directly in the old city and can walk to many stores, cafes, and restaurants. The hotel entrance is located in an inside court area where there are tables that can be enjoyed during the nice weather.

Das Stadthotel Engel liegt zentral in der Altstadt, nur wenige Minuten zu Fuß entfernt, vom Marktplatz und dem Ettlinger Schloss. Sowohl das Einchecken, als auch das Auschecken erfolgte schnell und unbürokratisch. Unser freundlich helles Zimmer im ersten Stock war mit einem bequemen Bett, einem schönen (staubfreien) Vinylboden und genügend Schrankraum ausgestattet. Im kleinen Bad gab es leider nur eine Wannendusche (der einzigste Nachteil, den wir feststellen konnten). Das Frühstücksbuffet war reichhaltig und lecker. Für die Nacht in der Hotel-Tiefgarage zahlten wir neun Euro, was einen fairen Preis darstellt. Somit ist das Hotel in nahezu allen Belangen empfehlenswert!
