“One of the best independent pub hotels I have stayed in. Cannot fault the accommodation but the drive to and the parking in the village could prove challenging if you are not used to driving in rural single track areas. Great place”

“Renovations are planned so we knew what to expect. Very dated but lovely old building. Staff were great and did their best. Great breakfast and comfy bed. Our stay a bit uncomfortable due to extreme heat. Despite this we enjoyed our stay.”

Room was clean and comfortable with the expected basics provided. Staff were helpful and informative and keen to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was a served full English which can be adapted to suit individual needs. All in all, I would recommend this hotel and I look forward to staying here again.”

“The hotel had some character. We booked car parking for £12 a night at the rear of the hotel, we did not expect to park on waste ground with a 75 yard walk to the back door. The room was small but OK. We booked a table for 7pm. in the restaurant when we arrived the room was empty and no sign of staff, we enquired in the bar to be told that meals were being served in the bar. We ordered drinks to have with the meal and were asked to pay for them, we said would they book it to our room, this……

“Don’t stay here if you have a baby. Despite having given the hotel the age of my young baby prior to our arrival, and obviously having a pram when we checked in, the first room we were given was down a narrow flight of stairs which was very difficult to carry a pram up/down safely. We complained and were initially told to leave the pram outside reception. I pointed out that would mean we may have to carry a lot of things up and down the stairs whilst carrying a baby also- not safe. They then……

“I loved that old cottage and am glad it is in good use. It's nicely furnished and the village where it is situated is delightful. Two negatives were the dog smell in the lounge and poor state of plants in pots. While the dog smell is probably unavoidable as dogs are allowed, the dead plants brought about a depressing impression. Being a gardener, I tried to look after the remaining plants and had to transplant one huge heuchera plants that was literally hanging in the air as its pot was……
