We stayed in Rainbows Edge for 7 nights. The cabin was nice. However, the ac ducting for the upstairs and downstairs were connected which results in the downstairs being 6-9 degrees cooler than upstairs. So, the those sleeping downstairs were very cold at biggest complaint was the horse paddock. We had a heavy rain the first night and the paddock turned into a fly infested mudhole!! The mud was 3-4 inches deep (I am not exaggerating). There was no water in the paddock or water buckets (good thing I brought my own). So, I had to fill the buckets up near the house and carry them through the mud. There was no lights in the paddock, or bedding provided either. You could see where previous people through their horses manure over the fence. This created the terrible fly infestation. I looked into putting my horses in Leatherwood's stalls but they are small, dark and there is no security. There is no gate at the road and the stalls are near the main road. So anyone could easily come in during the night and take the horses. I know this is highly unlikely, but it is not a chance I was willing to take. So, I pushed and sprayed the pile of manure down the mountain and continually picked up my horses manure and through it down the mountain across the street. I kept my horse sprayed downed and it became manageable. So, for all of this I get to pay them an extra $50 per night. I complained about this and they refunded me $150. The paddock is there regardless if I bring horses or not. They are not providing any services so why would they charge $25 per horse per night? Regarding the horse trails. Apparently there is only one person at Leatherwood that knows anything about the trails and she is hard to track down. This was quite surprising. I wanted to get some details about the different trails terrain and it took me two days to catch up with her. The trails need to be better marked as well.
