Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you prepare well enough. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Hoëdic holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you pack the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. Next, find room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, knives, aerosol cans and flares. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and items that could harm other people, such as swords and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up, and wear easy-to-remove shoes like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
